Remote issue with Denon 3802

This is really just annoying me more than anything. The remote is RC 883. I used set up to set the presets on tuner. The remote seems to control everything fine, except I cannot get it to control tuner. Followed the manual instructions to the letter. The remote selects tuner and it plays, but I can't change stations, or band or tuning mode. Any of you Denon owners or others have an idea. It works from the receiver controls but not the remote. Thanks for any help....I so hate a conundrum.

I had no trouble setting up my preset tuner stations & playing them. I just followed the directions that Denon gave.

Thanks. I just quickly looked at doc from Eng. It looks like same stuff as in my manual. I cannot manuualy tune, or automatically tune the tuner. The mode that lets you go back and forth does not work either. Can't select band either. I am not sure I tried just selecting from the array of presets. I will do that later today. I am sure this is one of those glitches with an obvious solution.....a smarter operator The remote works too well for everything else.

    Neil,
I recently went thru what you went thru a while back.

I lost my RC-883 remote for my Denon AVR-3801 receiver.
I purchased a replacement. They sent me an RC-884 remote saying it would work. It only works my tuner function of the receiver. I cannot get into the setup mode to tie in my DVD and Direct TV sound for home theater.

I contacted Denon USA. They were very helpful and told me the RC-884 is intended for the AVR-3802. The downloadable directions confirm this.

Denon also told me that they make programming changes with almost every receiver, therefore you need to have the specific remote made for your unit to have all functions of the receiver.

If you have not resolved your issue, I would like to propose we trade controllers.

Please let me know if you are interested, or have an RC-883 'for sale'.

    Thanks, Greg

My issue was solved when I learned that you have to hit the receiver multiple times to toggle through the selections. I think it goes from amp to tuner to multi, or something like that. So, I am good.

    Neil,
Thanks for taking your time to respond.

I tried some of your tips, but could not make the RC-884 work my AVR-3801.

I have a proposition for you.

I would like to send you my brand new RC-884 controller to you, with a copy of the directions for your AVR-3802, which confirm that the RC-884 is the controller that came with your unit.

If this unit works with your AVR-3802, would you consider keeping my unit, and selling me your RC-883 remote controller?

Let me know if you would entertain this proposal, and how much you would want to charge me for your controller, while keeping the RC-884.

    I appreciate your response.

    Thanks, Greg Dohm

Greg, have you tried getting back into contact with Denon and just explaining to them that you were sent the wrong remote? I can't speak for everybody's experience with them, but mine has been very positive. So much so that they just sent me a remote for free.

    Just a thought.
