This is a little off topic, but a couple weeks ago, I wanted to see what it looked like to run my computer through my HDTV. I am certain that all I did was connect an s-video cord from the laptop to the TV and selected the appropriate input. Up pops my desktop on the TV screen and I played a couple videos...but resolution was really bad.

So...tonight, my wife and I want to look at some hi rez pictures on the TV, but now I cannot get anything on the laptop to appear on the TV screen. The s-video works (tried it with the dvd) and the input is proper. Tried 2 laptops and neither will display on the TV. Help please before I jump out the basement window!! I see something in Help about a monitor wizaed, but I never used this the last time I connected to the TV.

THE ANSWER IS THAT YOU HAVE TO CONNECT THE LAPTOP TO THE TV BEFORE YOU TURN THE LAPTOP ON. S-VIDEO HAS A WHOLE WEBSITE!

Yes, you have to do that. Some video card drivers allow you to connect the laptop to the TV after you turn the laptop on, but not ALL can do this.
