Cool, Has anyone tried the woofer in a DIY home sub enclosure?
I think it'd be overkill for most people. The SR124 has 700 watts RMS rating and probably needs at least half that to attain a reasonable listening level. With that much power, that sub will shake your house to the foundation. Granted a car isn't much better but a sub with that kind of balls would quickly over-power the average HT room for most people. If you had high ceilings or just a very large, open room then yeah, I think it would be good. With the average listening room though, it'd be a beast.
I think it would do well in a sonotube, especially in the DVC version since it digs down to 20 Hz all by itself. That would give you some rumble!
That said though, take a trip down to your local Polk Audio dealer, like a Tweeter or something and head over to the listening rooms for the car audio. Tweeter will have some heavy amps hooked up to the board the SR's are plugged in to. The will generate some serious output. A single SR104 outperformed the dual db124 pre-fab box from Polk Audio the last time I was there. The SR will give a JL W7 a run for it's money too. It's got some extreme output for an SQ oriented woofer. It's worth every penny of it's $400 asking price. I just wish I had the money for at least one sub and a component set! That's about $1200 in speakers though. Still need amplification, wiring, enclosure(s) and installation supplies. If you don't have a source, that's another several hundred dollars. That system could quickly top $4500. But then your car would sound better than most people's home stereos!Expert Moron Extraordinaire

So did you atleast TRY to blackmail him before posting that?
Actually I thought it was quite good! Give me that mic and I would be standing there saying "Duh, ahh, um...you know, like, we really like polks"... right before I leaned against the speaker or fell off the stage or something.

The woofer is cool too!"she had the body of Venus, with arms." -
Man, I want one of those subs. Maybe a 10" to play with. I remember seeing them at polkfest and hearing about the design. A lot of work went into making them the best they could be.
