The public thing is simply our way as others here long before me passed along to myself, in the end it really does not matter if the deal was 5 bucks or five thousand. Well, OK, maybe it matters a bit, but mostly it does not. Thank you for clearly expressing your feelings on ethics, excellent.

NeilGabriel gave full discription of what he sold me and recieve as such. UPS (United Parcel Smasher) Does not take care of packages. I have had those morons shelf drop my Velodyne 15" sub right out side my house. It was double box but they still managed to ding the corners. I would buy from him again and again.

You did the right thing Neil. You have to understand that I won't sit back and watch the Polk FM become ebay II; your lack of response had me wondering...H9 hit the nail on the head--the buyer shouldn't have to ask for scans if the written word (your word) is describing the item as "excellent" condition. The pics obviously show that the speakers are in good condition--no doubt, and that they are (in your defense) missing the round portion on 2 grill holders--that's all good.

I respect you doing the right thing and apologize if I jumped to any conclusions.

Not to bash anyone here, but:

Did I just see a seller describe and sell something that was not in his/her possesion and did not look over what he/she was selling before posting here in the FS? And use months old pics from an ebay auction as the current pics of the item he/she was selling?

And a buyer agree to all of it?

Shame on both of you.

Or did I read this whole thread wrong?

Just to let you know, I will address any comments made about me in a PM back to you. I will not do it on the forum. I have never heard directly from the buyer. Still have not as of this moment. I stand behind the quality of the speakers and the packing. If the box got abused in shipping the few hundred miles it traveled, I cannot control that. I offered a full and complete refund. I would be happy to own these speakers again. I will never sell anything again without the most detailed description possible. I am leaving on vacation this Saturday. I won't be on the board for a week. Just so some don't infer that I have scammed a forum member and ran. I am not thick skinned as I take my character seriously. But, I think a lot of people jumped to conclusions. It is very possible that I made a mistake in the transaction, but I am very much a novice at this. I don't think that means that I never get to sell something if I "don't know what the hell I am doing." I am not a fool. It means I learn from the mistake and move on like most of you have at some time...now let's all do the same.

I'm not looking for a refund, just wanted some question answered, which you did, thanks. If you run across some Polk badges you can send them my way or find out who's hosting the next Polkfest and make a small donation to the beer fund and I'll be content.

If someone has time and is in the process of packing up some speakers for shipment, take some pics of the proper way to do it and maybe we can have it turned into a sticky for future reference.

G: all the damge you show to the cabs is from shipping. The small hole where the badge was is not and the pegs also lacked the rounded part, which I did not even know until I reviewed my pics. I will send you down a full refund, seriously, and please accept with my apologies. I focused on the ends and the sides when packing and obviously did not use enough packing. My bad and I will make it right with you. Just so you know, I spent $10 on packing materials and 45 miniutes trying different packing and thought I was getting the job done right. I didn't. I am very sorry for your disappointment on this.

Last post from me on this. I just put a check in the mail for full refund, including shipping. I also sent down a pair of badges in a separate tiny box from a pair of 5s. Hopefully, the badges are unisex (or unisize). The badges have the backing for clipping them, so make sure you sort through the wrapping. G, if you don't want the money, then contribute to the Polk Packers Educational Fund. I'll be first to register. I doubt that I will attend any Polkfests for fear of being shipped home in a grocery sack. Mike

my last word on this.. and hopefully this thread will die, die die.

damage was done during shipping.. it's very easy to tell that is new damage to those speakers.

both parties have said their peace and are ready to move on... lets all do the same.

Mike I don't think anyone will treat you differently. It's pretty obvious that you had no intention of misrepresenting the condition of the speakers. Plus you have offered over and over again a full refund to make it right with gwh.

gwh, it appears that Mike thought the packaging would be sufficient for the trip to you.. obviously it wasn't. He now knows that when shipping heavy items, bubble wrap isn't strong or stable enough to protect heavy items.

finally... and this has happened to quite a few people... including me... **** happens. Even with the best of our intentions, **** happens, plain and simple.

Lets just move on from this.. and this should not be a basis for not attending a PolkFest... I'd hate to see anyone stay away from a Polk gathering because they think they may feel unwelcome. That's quite the opposite of course.

Thanks. Symmetry would suggest that I should close the post as I started it and then caused it. I learned a lot. Please take a look at my post under speakers for Csi5 issue. That is what I got from UPS yesterday from a reputable higher end audio store. It doesn't justify what turned out to be my shoddy work....but.... Thanks to all as I go no. 2 out of a different hole for a few weeks.

Mike has come clean and you shouldn't feel any reason not to attend a Polkfest. We all make mistakes and learn from them.

the only way to pack speakers is in abox packed snugly with dense foam inside another box with about 4- 5 inches of clearance all the way around the last box pack it densly with foam or such. Dhl Ups Fed ex they all beat stuff up badly I got one set of speakers and one cabinet was nothing more than a baffle board by the time he dropped it from the 5 story build to the dhl truck !!! not sure how high exactly , drivers were intact but jeash didnt know speaker cabinets were shipping vessels for drivers .....

These little speakers sound pretty good, my first exposer to Polks older than RT3's.

OK im not trying to hijack a thread but 5 jrs tell me the sticker says it ... I have that speaker and mine says 4.6 , sometimes polk book shelves really irritate me

I have 2 sets of 4's and 1 set of 4.6 (err 5 jr's I mean ) I like they way they sound so much I think 1 more pair and I will do a theater set up with just them and a small sub in the master bedroom
