I am sorry I don't have some big-butt sda-srs to offer for $100 (or the parts at least). All I got is these little 5 jr's. By the end of the week, I will have 5 pairs of various Monitor 5s and these need another home...you know, runt of the litter. Somehow, someway, I will come up with enough money to go to Yellow Knife.

I paid $75 plus the shipping on these about 4 months ago. Excellent condition. 7.75/10. I'd like $60 out of them. PM me if interested.

It cost about $25 to ship them to me from Fla. I can't get UPS store website open to get quote. The speakers are about 15 pounds each. I don't do paypal. I'm just a guy with some speakers to sell, not a capitalist. What ever happened to shipping things Greyhound? Oh wait, I'm not hanging out at any bus stations. Sounds fair.
I'm going to move beyond the cute stage and ask some serious questions

Are grills included? Corners solid? Any major blems? Personal check or money order.

Grills, binding posts, tweets, mids....cabinets. Seriously, these were the 2nd best used pair of Monitors I have purchased. No major blems and hardly anything minor. I can do some quality scans on them and send to you...but that wouldn't be until tomorrow. Check or money order. If you have a sponsor here or bought from someone else, I would ship when you mailed the check. I'm a lawyer and I litigate for a living...and OK isn't that far away (smiling). I wouldn't be able to ship until Friday. I just sold a pair of CRS+ to Engtaz (member) and he should have them tomorrow. Mike

The smaller Polk speakers are the most fun. Big is predictable.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

    Money order just went out.

I'm going to drive them with a vintage rotel receiver I picked up at a garage sale. I think it's 30 x 30.... high current hopefully, and throw in a cheap advent powered sub that also came from a GS.

Received the speakers today... Did you pay to have these packed?

All Four top back corners as well as one bottom center back got dinged, there was only one wrap of bubble wrap then the cardboard box to protect these areas.
    Excellent condition. 7.75/10

Two speaker grill post are missing the round ends, pulls in the grill fabric, and I do not see the Polk emblems anywhere, just the holes in the fabric where they use to be. Two small ripples in the veneer lower left front corner on one speaker.

I’ll have to hook them up later to test functionality.

Not looking for a refund here.... I just thought you should have mentioned the above facts when posting.

    Mike,

How about an offer to at least file a damage claim on the poorly packed speakers you shipped me.

Ok, it's obvious that these speakers were not packed correctly, and add to that the misrepresentation (by omission) of their condition; specifically the grills--

I'd call this a potentially bad transaction on the sellers part. Neil, you gonna make good on this?

Overrating equipment and sub-par shipping protection smells of ebay to me...

Is Mike or Neil in the mix here? Has he even responded? Just wondering. Sounds to me like it's a combo of omission on the sellers part and a shoddy packing job. It' really too bad that a speakers has to become that damaged. I just don't get it; I've shipped lots of bulky stuff and never an issue  . If you don't know the basics of shipping you shouldn't be selling stuff!

    H9

Not saying it was anyone's intention to deceive but there is no excuse for shoddy packing. Mike or Neil could just be away from the forum for a few days, it happens. But he needs to make it right even if that means a full refund and getting the merchandise back.

Let's give him the benefit of the doubt for a minute (although he hasn't yet responded to the buyer which is disturbing since he has posted on the forum after gwh disclosed the damage). If he paid The UPS Store to pack them, he should be able to file a damage claim. I know from experience however that UPS, etc. offers no guarantees on electronic (specifically stereo) equipment. I got burned by a seller who shipped it where it was packed OK, but was damaged. There was no real visible box damage so they denied the claim. TAKE PICTURES RIGHT AFTER YOU OPEN IT!!!!!!! The seller must initiate the damage claim in most cases. This sucks that it happened - hope it gets resolved amicably.

how about we let people express their feelings/opinion about this without telling them "lets" do this. I am certainly glad to see individual's with membership once again taking interest in the Flea Market and what happens with sales made here.

as far as I can tell from gwh it is poor packaging, I think the seller needs to step up and be heard. I see cause for concern since the missing logo's were not mentioned, and the grills have pulls, also this is the second time mr mike neil/g has mentioned he is a lawyer, ok, maybe nothing, but maybe not. frankly, I fail to see how it matters at all. Since it has been only one day there is a possibility this fellow may make good or the hoped for occurs and the packaging was done by UPS.

Grills are a component of the speaker; if the grills have pulls and holes where the logo's used to be, they are not in excellent condition. Even if the speakers had not been damaged in shipment, I would have been upset with the way they were "represented" in the add. Neil was asked directly about the grills, and made no mention of their condition--that's not right.

I think a PM would have been in order here. But, I do want to defend the shipping and our discussions. Engtaz can address the speakers I shipped to him and George Daniel can address the receiver he should receive tomorrow. The pictures at the top of the post are the actual pictures of the speakers. When I posted the FS, I did not have them in the house. I offered in the above post to provide you with quality scans of the speakers after you asked about them. I packed the speakers and used a double layer of cardboard in several places, bubble wrap just for some protection of the finish and styrofoam. I ensured that they were packed tightly and that there would be no movement inside the box. All spaces inside the box were packed with something to keep it from crumpling. I don't see anyway the box could have been crumpled unless it were really abused. I honestly believe that these speakers were packed better than all but one piece of used audio equipment I have purchased. I personally would have been happy to have had the speakers packed and sent to me the way these were--but I admit that I am not a professional seller or shipper. I had no memory of the polk emblems being gone and did not intend to deceive you. They (the speakers) were given to my son (who does not live with me) the day after I got them and I put them up for sale after I got some jr+s for him.

In any event, if you are unhappy, I am more than happy to provide a 100 percent refund. I will return your money and send you the money to return them to me. I can't do more than that. Hell, I'll send you $60 and you keep the speakers if you prefer. I don't want anyone on this board to think I tried to cheat another member.

Before anyone on the board judges this, they should ask Eng if his CRS+ were as represented and George if his receiver is as represented.

Let me know how you want to handle a refund if that's what you choose.

I am a lawyer. It makes me no worse or better. It is just what i do. shultzemploymentlaw.com

These speakers are about 17 years old. They are 5 jrs, not SDA's. I paid $75 for them and sold them for $60 a couple months later. See link below for all pics. I would have rated them a 7 something given their age. I focus on the cabinets and the components. As mentioned, I did not have them in the house when I did the post and when I had this dialogue with the buyer. I do not sell audio gear for a living or because I have to. I offered something I did not need and I offered to do digital scans so the buyer could judge for himself. If the description is incomplete, I was wrong and apologize for that. I take honesty and ethics extremely seriously. As you see above, I have offered the buyer a complete refund and would have done so if he had no made such a public show. Below is link to what I bought and when. I think the speakers were physically in great shape and tested before put in the box

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140103387171

Since this is a public viewing, I will be happy to answer any questions anyone has.

I don't think anyone is trying to scam anyone with this deal.. but it appears to me, that the packing material may not have been enough to withstand the trip.

We all make mistakes now and then. I certainly have learned from the first time I shipped a receiver.. the seller claimed it arrived damaged. he never filed a claim.. but since then... which was many years ago.. i have learned to overpack stereo gear for shipping.

I've only shipped speakers a handfull of times... all have arrived in great condition..

I think the pics of the speakers Mike posted, the speakers in fact look in really good shape to me. I'd like to see what they look like now.. that the've arrived at the buyer's house.

I think most if not all people in here who sell to other Polkies..if anything under estimate the condition of items being sold.. as least that's been my experience in here.

    RT1,
Didn't mean to imply that I was telling people what to do when i said "Let's". Just wanted to give the guy a chance to respond before conclusions were made without him getting a chance to right it. Looks like he stepped up and did the right thing after a mistake was made.

The problem here is the fact that they were not in the seller's posession at the time of the post. You keep saying you would have provided more digital photo's if the buyer would have asked. He shouldn't have to ask. You described them one way and put them up FS before you looked at them properly. Because you didn't look at them properly or have them in front of you while posting the description it looks like it's coming back to bite you. You made a mistake in describing the item; it seems you are willing to remedy however GWH wants to proceed.

We can all learn a lesson from this.

Please catch a breath here. The buyer did not PM me and I only found out this discussion was going on because Engtaz told me. Please see the link to the ebay pics of the speakers. All posts are there, the drivers are perfect...the cabs are excellent, certainly given age....it is obvious from the ebay pics that polk logos were not there...I stand by the packing. I tried to use double cardboard to simulate double boxing and I used minimum bubble wrap and styrofoam. I could barely seal the box because I tried to make it tight enough to avoid any movement. I packed these because I did not trust UPS. So, this is enough. If you have specific questions, ask me and please don't make assumptions or guess.
