Hi you all, I need an advice.

My sister has a sony HTIB, the amp and speakers impedance is 3 ohm 100w.
But she is not happy with the stereo soundstage, so what kind of speaker she could add??
- If I connect an 8ohm speaker, what could happen?
- Or must to connect a 4 ohm speaker

She don´t want to blow the amp :)

I´m waiting for your comments!

Not to be disrespectful, but if she's really into optimizing the soundstage, I think the only sound advice would be to relegate the HTIB to the bedroom and start again from scratch. You're just not going to gain that much by adding better speakers to what I assume is a subpar foundation. Just my opinion. YMMV

Third. I doubt many HTIB receivers realistically do 3-ohm loads. More likely, the manufacturer gives estimated specs at 3-ohms to make the wattage seem greater. At least, that's what I'm thinking.

Stay around here, save a bit of money, then rebuilt a new system. If you do some research, make wise purchases, etc., you can put together a much better system for less than you'd think.

The 3 ohm speakers may be used in series with a 3 ohm sub. You can replace the 3 ohm satellites with a better 4 ohm speaker. Your results will be dependent on the amplifier's ability to power the better/larger speaker, so I wouldn't expect much.

Most HTIB rigs are generally matched gear that doesn't play well with others.

Yeah, I agree with you all. Since I have a pair of R15´s I just wondering if I can hook to a sony. But 8ohms against 3 ohm. mmm....

    tks
