I own the RTi10s and had the crackling problem. I ended up sending in my new onkyo back..How important is it to instal the spikes and could this be the cause of the crackling?

Trying to read between the lines........it would seem the problem is not with your speakers as you sent the AVR in for repair. So, has the AVR come back and you're still getting the crackling problem or what?
Anyway you look at it at, not using the spikes will not cause the crackling issue, but may cause a lack of solid, tight bass.Political Correctness'.........defined
