Here is a quick question a friend told me he auditioned these reccommended I hear them. Has anyone listen to or heard these AAD speakers before??
    http://aadsound.com/products/Loadspeaker/s%20eries/s1.htm
If so how good or bad lol are they never heard of them. Just curious

pearsall001 has AAD2001's. I spent sometime listening to those at Quest for Sound near Philly, and was very impressed with them. I have been considering them myself for quite some time.

If I'm not mistaken Hearingimpared has also spent significant time listening to the 2001's. In fact it may have been pearsall001's that he listened to. But as I recall he spoke very favorably of them too. Hopefully they will chime in here.

If you are really serious about them I would highly recommend talking to Stephen Monte at Quest for Sound. You can't beat his level of service!

Chicomoralessxm's link goes to the new S1. Try this one, http://aadsound.com/products/past%20model/2000%20Series.htm

Although Phil Jones was responsible for designing and building the 2000 series, he's no longer involved with their production and has started a new company with the same AAD name. Any search attempts to find the company producing the AAD2001 leads you straight to Phil Jones' new website. Apparently, there's some bad blood involved.

I was very impressed with the AAD2001's that I heard at Phil's house and I'd certainly recommend them.

I realize he was pointing to a different model I was just mentioning my experience with the brand.

I was however unaware of the changes at AAD. I hope it doesn't negatively effect their products.

Phil Jones magical speaker designs coupled with his "Golden Ears" were behind some of the now classics from Acoustic Energy, Boston Acoustics, Platinum Audio & Soliloquy. AAD Audio hired Phil to design a new flagship line for them. In fact they actually built him a brand new factory. Hence the 2000 series was born which consists of 3 models. The 2001, 2002 & 2003. I have the AAD 2001 monitors & they truly are amazing. Then Phil & AAD had a falling out & Phil went out on his own to form AADSOUND. He purposely named his new company to confuse consumers with the original AADAUDIO whom he worked for. Since he worked for AADAUDIO when he developed the 2000 series he couldn't take the design with him. The 2000 series has been haled as his best work to date. I heard he was awfully pissed. That's why you don't see them on his new site. The original designs are still going strong for AADAUDIO & continue to be their flagship line. The confusion between the web sites is still on going & has yet to be resolved. Apparently Phil likes to carry a grudge. Stephen Monte, the owner of http://www.questforsound.com/ is still selling the hell out of the original AAD line. When folks hear them for the first time they are simply in awe of Phil's work. As far as his new speakers on his site I really can't comment. Stereophile has a review on his Reference Silver-1 speaker. I'm sure since Phil designed them they will receive an oustanding review.

I was pretty impressed by a pair of monitor audio silvers that I bought off audiogon and put in my office. So impressed that I bought a whole gold reference setup for my HT. The GR10's are over the price limit new, but an over-the-top value used.

Thanks immensely for the background info. Most enlightening, history makes a dif. Jones must really have been pissed though..... tell me how much do those 2001 monitors set you back. I'm looking at either the S1's or silver refs silver one's if they are in my budget range. Was trying to get on site you mention questforsound can't seem to get on it in the office not sure why

What's your budget? If you are interested in the AAD 2001 monitors I suggest giving Stephen Monte a call & use my name (Phil Pearsall) as a contact. Stephen is dynamite to work with & can answer all of your questions. He might have a pair of 2001 monitors as a demo, check with him. It really is worth your while if you can give them a listen. The only downside is that not many dealers carry them. Here's his site:http://www.questforsound.com/

i see alot of love for lsi9's here.... i guess that depends on what you are going to be using them for. In a theater enviroment i think they are great, i would love to set up a 5 channel set up with all lsi9's. however for music i am not as much of a fan of em.

I think they suffer from a sever midrange punch that was designed to play into how most of todays pop music sounds, i feel the speaker itself gives stuff that is recorded and mixded properly over emphasis on a few select frequency ranges.

My response to the original question of the thread though is hands down RT55i hands down!!! Have em, Love em, Will not lose em'

Well i'm into all kinds of genre's i'm living in the caribbean so that include zouk salsa meringue and reggae(music with lots of bass) plus love jazz classical alternative. Out of those you mention i know other than the Lsi9 i just know the Totem, its mahogany finish is love but problem is i cant get it locally. Locally or in the states i've dealt with dealors that carry polk nht revel klipschDeftech, Paradigm, Psb, Martin Logan and ERa. thats about it.

My room is med to kinda large so i'm looking for speaker to fill that room prob will add a sub later but i'm 50/50 on that. Will also next year be getting another bookshelf in the 2k range for the main listening area.

You know, those ERA speakers have always seemed to allude my ears. Thats a shame, as I've always been curious to give them a whirl.

Chico; Give the Ascend Acoustics Sierra 1 a serious look.
    http://www.ascendacoustics.com/pages/products/speakers/SRM1/srm1.html

Living in the Caribbean; shipping and duties is going to hit ya no matter what you buy. The Ascends (made of Bamboo) are very well built and can handle the environment there much better than most hi-fi products. Combine that with a 30 day trial period and a 7 year warranty (if you decide to keep them), and its hard to go wrong.

Sound wise, they can fill up a large space with ease and provide a good amount of bass for their size. They are just all around fun speakers that sound fantastic with every single genre of music. / end my recommendation, wonder if Ascend will be sending my check in the mail /

My only question will they accept paypal??? Everyone keep talking about these speakers I wish I lived there in the states. I could try them out.

So guys who has compared those speakers the Ascend Sierra's the 7 or 9's, the Classic 3's Revel M12 and the Eras??? I'd curious to know your thoughts and what electronics you heard them with.
