FS: SDA SRS in the Northwest, signed by Matthew Polk

Price SOLD!

For sale in the Northwest… 1 pair of original flagship Polk Audio SDA SRS’s in very good condition. Easily 8.5 out of 10. These have both grilles in good condition; wood side panels are beautiful oak. The only problem is that one of the bottom caps is split. Meaning, the oak bottom just needs some wood glue to repair. I thought I had done this repair a few years ago, but apparently not.

When I got these I noticed some kind of like white paint splatter on the grills and lower half of the cab’s… and on the right passive. I have tried several times to remove it, but a little of it still remains. (see pictures).

These SRS’s have had all 8 tweeters upgraded to the latest silk dome replacement tweeter from Polk about a year ago. So they are nicely broken in and sound wonderfully clean and detailed. The blade/blade interconnect cable is in good shape and included of course.

The crossovers have not been upgraded; I will leave that to the next caretaker of these unique speakers. The coolness factor is that one of the 15” passive radiator’s has been hand signed by Matthew Polk himself, back during Polkfest 05. This would bring a nice penny on an auction site, but I want someone from this forum to be able to cherish and enjoy these instead.

The details…

I prefer that whomever purchases these fine speakers pick them up in person. I can deliver them to a club member as far away as Seattle or Portland (I live in Spokane)… but, I have to charge a delivery fee (approx $100). Gas prices are to steep and I would have to rent a van to deliver them. I can do this of course, if delivery is easier for you, then we can work something out.

I prefer cash, check or money order. I don’t want to be gouged by PayPal fees. I learned my lesson when I sold a sports car on Ebay, just how much I got stiffed by Ebay and Pay Pal fees.

To keep everyone informed on who has interest in these.. I prefer to have those people post in here and not by PM. I don’t want to get into any kind of pissing match that this person PM’d me first over the next person. So if you have interest in them, please only post and show your interest in this thread.

You can ask questions in here or via PM or if you prefer I will give you my email addy or phone number. I want to make sure that whomever gets these knows what they are getting. *If a Canadian Polkie wants them, they are responsible for all customs and duty fees… plus $ would of course have to be in US funds. ;)

That’s it; ask any questions you may have. I’ll leave this up for a week to see what kind of interest is shown. I‘m not in any hurry to sell these, but it is still first come, first serve.

*No shipping period.

Thanks, AL

the pics in the first post are of the left speaker only. here are the pics of the right speaker... two top grill pegs are broke.. but the grill stays on with no problem.

The right passive I have tried to clean over and over since i've had these.. this is something that isn't pretty to look at of course.. but i can not for the life of me remove it. It's embedded in the surface material of the passive. See pic.

Both crossover plates are as they should be.. no discoloration at all.

I'll take the end caps and part out the rest. I need some spare end caps in case mine get scratched.

If you part them out, I'll take the aluminum faceplate on the middle of the speaker. That would be nice to frame and hang in my office.

I can't believe you're selling them. It's as though you've reached out and punched me in the gut, all the way from Spokane to Ann Arbor.

I have to say that I'm tempted to purchase them to part them out, as I've long been suspicious that one of my grille badges is going to be pierced with an arrow in some wild cowboys and indians party scene.

Seriously, though, I can't believe you're selling them.

I'll take them. I just need a single tweeter gasket, and then I'll blow them up.

L&C, it's time to pass the torch as they say.. to another Polkie. they were given to me by a Polkie, and now I'm just passing them along.

If they don't sell, then of course I keep em :) .. it's a win, win.

Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D

I want these soooo bad... however being killed in my sleep wouldn't make for good listening. House remodel and a new baby, pretty sure the wife would jam an ice pick in my ears if I bought them.

I am going to go and cry myself to sleep now:(

Ok. since i posted these for sale.. i have moved them further apart. OMG! they sound soooo much better now. They were about 7 ft apart from the center of each speaker.

Now they are 12 feet apart center to center.. and the soundstage is freakin huge. I was listening to some Money. by Pink Floyd.. and I could swear some of the sound was coming from so far off one side that is had to be another 15 feet out at least.

I didn't know that the distance made that much of a difference. Now I have to re-listen to all my music again. Dang it!! ;)

Wow, I can move mine further apart by two feet more on each side which would give me 10' 3" apart and still have them exactly 3 feet from each side wall. Now I gotta try this. . .thanks alot for the sore friggin back Al!!!:p

The only problem is that I can't move my sweet spot back 10 feet.

With one speaker in your dining room and the other in your hallway, does this mean they are no longer for sale?

quite possibly.. i have found a new appreciation for my SRS's. I will leave the for sale sign up displayed proudly for another week. then i'll either Ebay them or keep em. I thought there would be more interest in these.. i know the $$ is somewhat high.. but then again. a pair of signed SRS"s never come up for sale, ever. ;)

Al don't you have a boatload of upgrades done to those SRSs?

I'll bet the magic marker Matt used to sign the passive radiator is making the bass sound deeper and tighter and more natural!!!:D :p
