i need help with my subwoofer

ok my speaker was working fine until a few days ago. then it started to smell like it was burning and it still smell like it. it works fine til a point.. it has dual hookup (i mean like it has a positive and a negative on both sides of the magnet) and on one side when i hook it up it shuts off the stereo but the other side works ok.. but not like it use to. someone please help!

    is there anyway to take the speaker apart to fix it?

    What kind of sub do you have?
