I've just framed my basement, have not even chosen system components. What speaker wire would you recommend to run through walls/ceiling?

Belden cable 5000UE Grey jacket for $.38 a foot + Shippings seems to be a winner for price and sound. Not very pretty but remember it's in a wall.
You can get it at Blue Jean Cables http://www.bluejeanscable.com/store/speaker/index.htm

    BTW Welcome and stick around.

Thanks. This looks like a good altenative to Monster cable.

This is the wire that I just used in my basement. Very nice cable. Easy to pull, seems to perform well, although I have nothing to compare it to.

You definately don't want to use Monster cable for what you are doing. The jacket isn't made for pulling through studs and you will most likely tear it up.

Yep, using the same wire here for my surrounds. Works good at a good price!

Thanks you guys. I'm just starting to research systems, and realize that this is another language. I travel, especially for events like Katrina or Mt. St. Helens to quantify the air chemistry...soooooo...I'll re-enter your environment off and on....As the rainbow man in Woodstock told me when I was a young kid...

Particles and Waves Baby! Particles and waves....

    Thanks Again!

I would recommend cables from Parts Express (Dayton cables)

    http://www.parts-express.com
    polkaudio RT35 Bookshelves
    polkaudio 255c-RT Inwalls
    polkaudio DSWPro550WI
    polkaudio XRT12 XM Tuner
    polkaudio RM6750 5.1

Front projection, 2 channel, car audio... life is good!

I don't know if this is any help. When I did my basement I knew I was going to use a dropped ceiling acoustical tile system. I hadn't laid out the theater so I just ran a 3/4" pvc pipe connected to an electrical wall box. I located these every eight feet around my basement. I then just placed a box cover on them and now I can use any configuration I want. I can move the speakers around to play with the sound stage. The conduit just goes vertical between the studs and now the cable is protected agains drilling. I made all of the wiring crossovers above the ceiling. I can upgrade or change the wire with ease any time I want. It worked fine for me, just my 2c. Don't forget to make a few of the boxes big enough to handle the speakers configs with your setup
