If thats the only amp youre running, your battery will be fine.

do you have an alternator in that boat?

If not, then you really shouldn't be running anything besides a 15 watt headunit. If you've got at least a 60 amp alternator, then you should be perfectly fine.

Most boats have either an alternator or generator and a full charging system just like cars. Otherwise, your fuel would outlast your battery charge and it would suck to be stuck on the water with no power. The only time I haven't seen a boat with a charging system of some sort in the recent past was on a little, Johnson outboard that was freaking ancient and needed a gigantic Deka deep-cycle marine battery to get 4 hours of operation out of the engine. Thankfully he replaced it with a Mercury 9 I think it is and that has an electrical system.

    Hey guys,

Well I just picked up the MTX TC4004 amplifier along with the Infinity Reference 1050w subwoofer. It's pretty sweet, got a decent deal on it too, lol. Hopefully I can start building the box tomorrow and start wiring the amplifier.

As for the wiring of the amplifier, is there any thing specific that I should do? There is not much mentioned in the owner's manual. Fuses? Anything else? I want to make sure I have this wired the right way.

What about the box? First time building a sub box, any pointers?

    Thanks guys,

    Gerry

    Glemay,

Sorry I didn't reply to your last post, but as far as installing and such, the only thing that is really 'essential' is that you have a fuse on the + power cable within 18 inches of the battery. For what you're running, I would say a 60 amp should be about right...

I'd love to see some pics... haven't seen a boat install in a long time. :)

It would be rougly 50 watts for each of the 4 speakers and 200 watts to a single SVC 4 ohm sub.

    Dear MacLeod,

Do you know if I could do this with a Kicker DX200.4?

    50watts x 4 channels
    Bridged 100watts x 2 channels
