when I am watching dvds or listening to music in the prologic surround mode, the sound sucks... the bass is really deep and the trebble fades in and out. Suggestions anyone?

What audio equipment do you have? Make sure you connections are fully connected.

I love how music can brighten up a bad day.

    Hello,
Thanks for posting on the Forum. You indicate that this happens while de-coding Dolby pro-logic, correct? So, I'm assuming you're playing a VCR tape, correct? If so, it could be a problem with your VCR having tracking problems. Are you able to play the system with any other sources? How does FM sound, or a CD? Let's determine if you have a source problem or a system problem.

No, Im not watching a tape... The problem occurs when Im watching a DVD through my Playstation 2 which is connected to the CD input, as well as when I just listen to music from my iPod which is connected by a monster cable to the DSS input.... Does this help narrow the problem down to something??? I hope so. thanks for the help.

    Hello,
It is possible the unit is going into a protect mode. Does this happen at fairly high playing volumes?

no, it happens at all volumes, however it is much more noticeable at moderate to high volumes.

    Hello,
I'm not sure what could cause the treble to fade in and out, that's puzzling. As a general attempt at determing what might be happening try pushing the following three buttons, simutaneously, from the front panel of the processor:
"save preset", "clear" and "preset up" the processor will display "default" and shut off. Turn it back on and see what happens. Is there a way to just listen to the built in FM on two-channel stereo?
    Regards, ken

I set the processor to "default" and im still having the same problems. The FM radio sounds fine on two-channel stereo, but not sound from any other input in the prologic mode... ??? :(

    Hello,
It would be best to send just the pre-amp/processor to Polk Audio, 2550 Britannia Blvd., Suite A, San Diego, CA. 92154. Please include a short note giving us your name, address and a daytime telephone number. It would also be a good idea to describe what you are hearing.

OK. Thanks for your help. Is it going to cost anything besides shipping?

    Hello,
There isn't a charge for us to examine the unit and determine if it is the cause. If you have owned it less than three years and are the original owner include a copy of your sales receipt.
