I hear this ad on the radio today....Tweeter is talking up the Sony (non ES) and Blose combo!

mantis, what's up with that???

    Dollars and cents man, what names does the common non-audio dude recognize? What has he been told is 'top-o-the-line'?

    Sucks for us, but it is smart business, if you ask me....
    (see my best buy post on what one can do with bose cubes on display...)

    Hey man,
    I'm not real big on those companies but they do sell.Bose you don't like???I can name thousands of people who could argue that.Sony is the same way........the name sells......why???It's not bad stuff, if it was then nobody would buy it..trust me.

    The **** pays my bills man.....If I did run things..I would change a ton of things.....get rid of Bose and Sony non es....no way!!!

    I'm just ripping on ya.....but you have to educate people to the fact that it's not high fidelity....it's like your duty as a audiophile.

    its not bad stuff.....I mean that ....it's cool to rip on me..ha ha

    But compared to what??

    I wouldn't own Bose I don't care for them,Sony receiver's, there ok at best but not crap.They don't sound as bad as some other thing's I have heard.

    I let the customer tell me whats nice and what sucks.I think just about everything we carry sucks.....but thats just me.

    I can totally see where Mantis is coming from on this one. When a customer comes in asking for Sony, and they have their heart set on it, Sure i could explain to them why Harman Kardon is better- but is it worth the effort? Why should they put up with my opinion when they can walk over to Best Buy and pick up a STRDE 485 for themself? Yeah, Personally I don't like it, but it brings in money, and it'd be a stupid marketing move to discontinue it.



    ...the authority on Onkyo as well;)

    Thats basically where I was going with what I said.To me Yamaha sucks my ballbag,to nascarman it's his heaven,nirvana if you will.2 different ears listening liking/disliking.WHo's right?Both are right.Opnion is strong in this hobbie......to the person listening.

    As far as Bose...they earned there place,make products that non-audiophiles enjoy very much.I have met countless people who.....after owning Bose won't own anything else,there completely happy with the price/sound/quality of there products and who am I to say any different.

    Would I own it?.NO.
    Then again who knows!!!!!!

    Would I ever buy Yamaha again?........not anytime soon thats for sure....how can I say that?I owned Yamaha and I don't care for alot of things they do,and I don't care for the way they sound.

    I think that's one of the cool things about this hobby, not only that opinion is strong, but that yours is the only one that matters. If you think your system sounds sweet, who gives a rip what others think? Someone could downtalk Onkyo/Polk all they wanted, but I still like the way my system sounds. Food for thought

    I agree with Polk/Oink match up, ran that for YEARS in HT....
