Does anyone know how the VR4jr's are compared to LSi15 speakers? I am debating upgrading my LSi15's to VR4's but don't know if there is a noticable improvement in sound. If so are they good for HT? I am thinking about buying them within 6 months or so.

IMO the VR-4jr is the better speaker. BIG difference in SQ. They are good for HT but you need to feed them plenty of clean power to get what they are capable of. Get your ears on a pair and see for yourself. Yours is the only opinion that matters. Good luck :)

Then it looks like I will be buying them sooner than I intended. A few months hopefully. My wife is going to kill me when I buy them but I guess I can offset the price a little bit by selling my LSi speakers. I'll put them up for sale here soon I hope. I figured they were a much bigger step up just didn't want to jump the gun without any one else's thoughts. Thanks for the input.

That's what I did. I sild my whole LSI set up to Faster 100 (MIA). You will love the Vons. I do recommend getting a nice amp for that speaker as well.

Yes. They are about 3X the price on the used market. The LSI 15s are a great speaker for the money.

I'll fully recommend the VR4jr. One of the most transparent speakers I've heard at that price. I went from Martin Logan Aeon i's to the VR4jr, and I thought that was a huge step up.

I've only owned the LSi9, never the LSi15--it really isn't fair to compare either to the VR4jr. I LOVED my LSi9, but the VR4jr's are kinda on a different level.

These speakers are simply amazing. Although I have not heard the VR4JR, I have heard the rest of the lineup (don't remember model numbers) at shows and they were amazing speakers.

Yeah, but you might have heard $50,000 speakers. The VR4jr are the third or fourth from entry-level...but that said, I'd love to hear the full lineup. I hear the VR-11 might be the best speaker in the world.

Even Mark Schifter of AV123 admitted this to me over dinner... I'd say the chances are good that it may just be one of the best, if not THE BEST, in the world. Supposedly better than even the Alexandria X2.

    1. Having heard Chris' setup, I will agree that the VR4jr sound better than his Aeons did in his new place.
    2. The 9s are not near the VR4, and the LSi15 is not as accurate as the VR4 is with regards to the majority of the bass/midbass/midrange.

I have 2 Sunfire Sig. amps powering my LSi's. They should be fine running VR4's. Higherfi.com is sellng a pair of them with the surrounds and center and sub which I will ask them to remove the sub to lower the price a bit for about $7k new. That looks like a pretty good deal that I might jump on soon.

The Von Schweikert speakers are very superb!! Many years ago I have had the pleasure of listening to a setup consisting of VR-4 SR MKII powered by the Linn Majic products and I have yet to listen to anything better. On a few occasions I have also listened to Sonus Faber and JM Labs both powered by Mcintosh, which they come very close in musicality, but I think they both exceed VRs look...they look more refined and not as boxy, IMO

I hate to say it though, but the VR-4JR sound much better than the LSI15s, which I currently own. Typically speaking though, the VR products are known for superior characteristics in the music, but I can't say how well they do in HT; after all Albert Von Schweikert did work with Eric Clapton, Pink Floyd and Ray Charles in their recording studios. Btw, look into upgrading the JR into MKII edition, it provides better overall frequency response and a higher damping factor. This almost makes them close to the Virtuoso line...

    Izafar,

I went with inwalls and they sound fantastic, but would like a pair for the living room flanking the fireplace, as I can wire them from mt HT room as a second zone, with little to no wire exposure. Sorry fir the hi-jack.
