So I bought a NAD receiver from Doro is his crazy nad sale so I put up my rxv1300 ymaha receiver and it sold faster than I thought and I dropped it off to the guy. So I'm looking at the big hole where my receiver should be and get the smart idea of "borrowing" the SAHE75K panasonic I have running my livingroom mission speakers. so I hook it all up and low and behold. My speakers sound FANTASTIC. I'm thinking to myself WTF I payed all that money for the YAMMY and the panasonic junker I bought for the wifes system is so much more clear and alive. can someone explain this to me?

    Well there you go....

Club Polk menbers think Yamaha AVRs suck.

And JimBRICK...if you think the Panasonic sounds good...you are in for a treat when the NAD gets hooked up.

We all start somewhere. I remember when I though my RX-V1500 sounded good and then I heard other gear. It did not take long to dump the Yammi.

I remember specifically what my Yamaha receiver sounded like. Considering I get to listen to it every once in a while.

The Yamaha sounds like a jumbled mess, no real high definition, bloated, distorted, boosted lows - congested midrange.... sounds like BLAH

Hi,I thought my Yamaha rxv-1200 sounded alright but my monitor 10's didnt sound as crisp as they did with an older Yamaha m4 amp I had .I thought I was experiencing some hearing loss.(I am in my mid 40's). I took a chance on an Audiosource Amp 2 power amp using the Yami as a preamp.Lo and behold,I had clearer mids and highs again!! Was relieved my hearing was OK!!:)

I was very happy with my Yamaha HTR-5450 intil I replaced it with an HK AVR-340. No comparison.

I went HK too. I don't even want to sell my Yammi. I would feel guilty!

Those Panasonic digital path receivers do in fact sound so good for so cheap, that they almost have me seriously questioning the need to spend more for anything else.

I still prefer the sound of my Yamaha DSP-A1 to my Denon 3805 but the 3805has more convenience features so I use it in my main rig. Not all Yamaha's sound bad....of course I have never owned their lower tier offerings.

I wish more companies would make multi channel integrated amp/processors like the Yammy DSP-A1, basically an AVR, but without the nasty tuner section.

I don't think Yammy even makes them any more. As far as I know, Vincent Audio makes the only one on the market now, but I'm sure there may be more I'm unaware of.

I started out with a Yamaha receiver and I won't buy another one. They should call it, "Yamahurl."

Wait a minute now.....I Kinda'd liked my Yammy..I got a Yamaha RX-V450...the Lowest of the Yammer line. Only sold by Yammy Dealers...NOT Best Blinds, Circiut Shi**y or Others. Its did me pretty good for what I needed. I paid ALMOST $200 for this HT Receiver (NEW per the Bay). It provided me and my son with a .....well...decent?...level of enjoyment. He (15) was more more than happy to have this passed down to him (Suround completed with Infinity Primus 350's-Towers...Primus 160's-Rears...Primus C-25 Center... Advent ASW-1200...OK a piece of ****. Mind you this is a kid with HIGH expectations for sonics. Plays a DAMN nice 1972 Fender Strat / Humbuckers thru a Fender HotRod Deluxe Amp....ok...He's Growing). This Combo is pretty good for a kid that plays video games and burns HIS own music. The Yammy has proven good for both of us.

Don't knock what you feel is superior to us lessor folks. If this makes any sence at all?....please use Speel Cheque as my writing may not be all that you can be.

    Please don't

Count me in the ex-Yammy crowd. Major improvement in sound going to my Denon. Enjoyed it when I had it, but I've never looked back.

I like my Yammy. I had a HK 330 and the build quality sucked. I know most polkies love them but the volume knob came loose and the sub pre-out jack came out. I have an old HK in my warehouse that is a tank with a great sound though.

I went from an panny sa-he75 to nad c352 integrated receiver and it was a pretty big improvement. I'm sure you'll like the transition over to your nad receiver ;) Honestly, for a couple hundred brand new they're a really cheap way to setup a home theater. Not the greatest but it never gave me any problems.

When I get home I'll post a pic of the amplifier section in the panasonic... Makes my sonic t-amp not look so tiny after all :p

BTW if you haven't figured it out already -- Don't put 12awg wire in the sa-he75!! It'll screw up the binding posts / clips... I learned it the hard way and now they've opened up enough that they can't even grab onto 16awg wire.

Come on guys! I've had a Yamaha RX-V2500 now for a couple years and have been very happy with it. It actually replaced a Denon AVR-4802 (twice as expensive) which sounded incredibly dull in comparison.

I wouldn't consider my Yamaha to be tinny at all. It even did a decent job of driving my LSi15's for a short while.

I'm not saying that it's the be-all and end-all of receivers, but it certainly isn't half as bad as many here are claiming.

I once sold a Yamaha strictly because listening to music on it sucked big time. However, I have never been able to recreate the HT experience I got with it with my later HK's, Integra and Kenwood AVR's. The best stereo sound I've gotten out of an AVR so far is my current Pioneer Elite. Haven't had a chance to try it in an HT setup yet though. If this doesn't do it for me maybe I'll try a NAD next.

I have a yamaha 5560 receiver. The sound is muddy and veiled. I have a 18 year old 2 channel RX 730 reciever and the sound is very natural and clear.

Look guys, I have spent my equipment budjet for the year. Any more threads like this and I will blame you all for making me "just try"a new pre/pro (won't buy a receiver again) causing a fight with the wife after I buy it. This site has caused a few fights already and more then one trip to my friend danny's ( yes, he's a jewler) I was happy yesterday but as I'm sitting here listening to some super tramp I saying to myself " ya, that dose sound alittle bright."
