Garrard Turn Table

I got this Turn table from my father the other day. He has been moving it from house to house to house over the past 10-15 years. I listen to many a record on this turntable from my early teen years until I went to college. It still has the stock IC and hard wired power cord/lamp cord. I got it to work but the motor is noisy and the stylus is gone.
Does any of you TT heads think it is worth salvaging?
I did come across an old magazine ad for Garrard TT on the infonet and it was very similar to a vintage Polk ad.

Garrard made some great stuff in their day. Maybe with a little tinkering and oil and De-oxit you may have something there. Go to turntableneedles.com for a stylus or cartridge. There are some vintage turntable sites that you can see, what, if any value it may have.

Thanks HI
It looks like the tone arm is a well engineered and machined piece. I just need to spend a little time with it and get a new cartridge. If anything I should just repair it as a nostalgia piece.
Ironically right now I have three turn tables and 5 albums.I like speakers that are bigger than a small refrigerator but smaller than a big refrigerator:D -

aaaaaaaa, it's a Zero 100!
The 'zero tracking error' arm is a clever design (it's a pantograph), but it is heavy and it's not too well executed; they're kind of notorious. There are some fans of the Zero 100 series... I'm not one of them.
Now, if you stumble upon a Garrard 301 or 401... hang on to that
EDIT: These references'll give you an array of opinions on the Zero 100 family:

I recall the 401s nice stuff. I remember when you had to buy Garrard piecemeal. -
Thanks guys for the info and links.
I will look into lubricating and de-oxing in the next few days.
What kind of cartridge do you think I should get for this TT?I like speakers that are bigger than a small refrigerator but smaller than a big refrigerator:D -

Ask the good people at Turntableneedles.com, they know every cart and stylus ever! -
I had a Garrard that I got from my pop in my first "rig". Don't remember the #. Thanks for the memoriesAudio: Polk S15 * Polk S35 * Polk S10 * SVS SB-1000 Pro

Scott,
I have an Ortofon OM 10 from my old table and a Goldring Eroica I found in a box the other day. If either of these would work for you they're yours. When I took apart my old table the Ortofon was still working fine, the Eroica, I have no idea where it came from. Let me know if you want one.

I have lots of albums you're welcome to take on long term loan Scott. Eventually I'll get a turntable again, but no time in the near future. Next time we schedule a listening session, remind me about the albums.HT/music rig

Wow.
Thanks Ben and Mike. I may just take you guys up on this.
Ben I do not know much about TT but I take your advice.
Mike Thanks for the record offer. I used to have quite the collection myself but an unfortunate incident in college ruined my entir collection.
We should all get together for a listen, we can be more than 10-15 minute from each other.

P.S. Sorry for the delay in my post but I posted yesterday just as the site went down for maintenance and lost my post.I like speakers that are bigger than a small refrigerator but smaller than a big refrigerator:D -

I agree. Let's set up a time, otherwise my S/O will have something planned for me. I've been wanting to get my ears on some tubes; on the other hand Jesse helped me get the SDA's running strong, too, and I don't mind hosting.Wristwatch--->Crisco -
Let's figure something out. I am out of town this weekend. But plans in the next coming weeks would be cool.I like speakers that are bigger than a small refrigerator but smaller than a big refrigerator:D

Ben, where do you live? I'm in Glen Arm, near the corner of Manor and Glen Arm roads. We should do a thing at all 3 of our houses to get our ears on various equipment.HT/music rig
