Just watched Casino Royale on Blu-ray. I'd have to say the transfer is awesome providing equal PQ/SQ to what I've been seeing on HD DVD. The audio quality is outstanding, although it is allot louder at my normal listening levels. This title has been getting awesome reviews all over the place. A definite must for you Blu Ray owners here. They even use a Sony BDP-S1 in the film if anyone hasnt caught that. The surround sound and bass in the movie are A+ throughout the entire movie. Enjoy guys.

Another movie I found to be an excellent transfer on Blu-Ray is Rocky Balboa. I haven't had the time to watch CR yet but I'm looking forward to it.

I noticed the security system at the Ocean Club had BR players. I thought that was a bit overkill for the 13" security monitors. . . but, to each his own.

Lot of marketing in that movie, but I think it's an awesome flick. Almost made me wish I got a BR player instead of the HD-XA1. . . almost.

If you watch the scene again, its a Sony BDP-S1. Thought that was cool since thats what I own. I will be watching Terminator 2 on BR tomorrow and Charlie and the Choc. Factory on HD DVD as well. I love the PQ of HD DVD, I just hope they bring the titles. I'm soon to buy a Sony Pearl or the new JVC HD1/RS1 so it should be a little more exciting here shortly.

Yep, just watched this last night, superb transfer.

I'll be watching Happy Feet with my 1 yr old tomorrow on HD DVD, since BD couldn't make the audio lossless?

I've ownly watched on HD-DVD on my new XA1. Nice player, but long load time, slow to do what you want it to (remote or anything else) and jumped around / skipped a couple times.

I watched Babel. Not a big fan of the movie. Depressing without making much of an impact. Not into depressing for the sake of depressing. Picture quality great in some parts, grainy in others. Maybe that's what the director was going for. Maybe my TV sucks.

It made sense to record security video in a high definition format. Sometimes, a small part of an image will need to be greatly enlarged on playback. Hi-def, of course, would provide clearer enlargements on screen and in printouts. While the 13" monitors adequate for monitoring, larger displays would be used for critical playback.

Fine, break down my comment. I don't mind.

They should still have nicer monitors to go with the players. . . that's all I'm really saying. Why spend $1000 per player and then buy some 13" monitors from the flea market in downtown Nassau? They could afford to at least get some nice 19" lcds. . .

If the playback is in 1080p, but the monitor is only 480i, what have you gained. . . WHAT HAVE YOU GAINED!!! Plus, isn't it ironic that the security room has no security on it? They could've at least locked the door before the entire building left to check out some car alarm activity.

Which firmware version are you running on your XA1. You should be running 2.0, which 2.1 is due out any day now. You may want to make sure your running the latest firmware because if I'm not mistaken 2.0 corrected some of these issues, just not the boot-up time.

Got this coming from NetFlix. Not sure about Daniel Craig, but he was good in Layer Cake. Just not a big Bond fan, but I do like a good action movie.

Me too! I have all 20 other Bonds in Ultimate Edition... watched all 20 before the release of the new one. Loved this movie. :D

I think I have 12 or so. This one is probably up there with the best of them in my book. Maybe not the classic Bond, but entertaining and not over the top like the last few. Plausible plot, too.

I think TND had the worst plot ever. Good action, bad plot, terrible casting of the media mogul.

My (regular) DVD arrived Monday and I watched it last night. Outstanding picture quality, sound, acting, writing, everything. I missed Alessandra Ambrosio's cameo (Victoria's Secret model) and some other things when I saw it in the theater last year. It is amazing what you pick up on when you are not being distracted by cell phone beeps, whispers, and the crunching sound of popcorn.:)

I saw the movie in theater and absolutely loved it. I will grab the SD version for now, but temptation is increasing to upgrade to a Blue Ray player. I hope prices would fall in the later half of the year.

Well, finally got around to watching this movie yesterday while I was sitting around the house waiting for Directv and caring for my sick daughter (she has a nasty cold). The video transfer on this movie is absolutely amazing and I was equally impressed with the uncompressed PCM 5.1 soundtrack. I often wonder why I even have a 7.1 setup when when 5.1 sounds just as good if not better. If I were doing it all over again, my room that is, I beleive I would just save myself some money and go 5.1 again.

Is the Bond ultimate edition DVDS any different than the previous Bond collectors edition?

Yes, they're all completely remastered audio and video, and there are further extras on each disc. 5 films per box, and run anywhere from $60-80 set... maybe cheaper by now on Amazon.

The only downside on the Bond box sets is they're not boxed in order! Now, I've memorized the order of the films, but it would be nice to display them chronologically.
