PSW150 rattle & buzz

I purchased my PSW150 about 10 years ago. A few months back any LFE signal would just sound garbled and buzzy.:( No humm from the speaker when no signal is present so I don't think it is the connection (MonsterCable Sub cable). It sound like the driver is damaged. If I lightly press on the cone it sounds like it is rubbing on something. I've removed the driver and cant see any damage or loose parts.
I'm upgrading my surround system and just installed a pair of TC265i as mains and would like to continue to use the PSW150, but I can't stand to have it hooked up any more. Any thoughts as to what might be the problem? Can I get a new driver to replace it if it is bad?
Thanks

Hello,
Thanks for contacting us. I'm afraid we no longer have the replacement woofer for that sub-woofer. However, we are usually very successful in getting that particular woofer working again. It would be best to remove the woofer from the cabinet, pack it up using bubble wrap and a sturdy box and send it to: Polk Audio, 5601 Metro Drive, Baltimore, MD. 21215 attention: Ken. Please include a short note giving us your name and address. I'm pretty confident we can repair your woofer.
Regards, Ken -
Thanks Kim and Ken, I'll ship it out this week:D

Ken,
The woofer should be in your hands by tomorrow. 3/30 -
Hello,
Thanks for letting us know.
Take care, Ken -
Hello Paul,
I've received the woofer today and have given it to Freeman and I'm sure he can get it working okay.
Regards, Ken -
Thanks,
Looking forward to a favorable prognosis. -
Hello Paul,
Freeman was able to get your woofer working and we're sending it out today. Do you need the original Sony VCR box back that you used to us?
Regards, Ken -
Cool!!
No you can toss the box, it was just the most secure packaging I had around at the time.
What was the problem with the woofer?
Tell Freeman he ROCKS!!
Thanks Ken! -
No problem on the box, Paul. I believe the problem was the spyder had to be re-attached to the basket and everything re-aligned. He removes the complete woofer cone/voice coil assembly and re-glues everything back. Then does a sweep test to check for rattles. Freeman has been with Polk for many years and does the prototyping of tweeters and drivers for the engineers. One of our heroes in CS.

Well his work is, and will continue to be, appreciated by many ears!
Thanks again.

Works and sounds like new:D Thanks again!

Great, thanks for letting us know all's well with your sub-woofer.
Take care, Ken -
Ken, I have the exact same problem with the exact same sub. I know it is a few years later now, but is this something that Polk can still do?
Also, on your website, I noticed a San Diego location. I am in San Diego, can this repair be done in San Diego as well? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Howard -
Hello,
That shouldn't be a problem, they fixed a woofer for a friend's PSW150. Since they don't have the woofer any more they try and repair them. You'd want to send it to the Balto. address.
Cheers, Jed
