Constant static on I-sonic

I have an I-sonic that has had a constant problem with static no matter what is playing, but is loudest on DVDs and CDs. It starts low and builds in volume as time goes on. It doesn't happen on the intros to the DVD movies (like when the lion is roaring on MGM), but as soon as you start playing the movie, it gets progressively worse. And ideas?:(
