Does anyone have Diana Krall's "The Girl in the other Room"

What are your thoughts?

It's good. It's little different that her other albums because it won't be alot of familiar material.

I'd still put it in the jazz category, but definitely more on the 'Pop' side...

I may have to check that one out. I have about 6 others of hers and do enjoy listening to her. Something a little different can be good sometimes.

I've got it on both, Redbook and SACD. Very close to each other in quality with the Hi-rez version having a tad more breathiness in her vocals and less audible noise floor when cranked.

BTW, in my opinion, "Black Crow" is done better by Diana than Joni Mitchell ever recorded it.

Not a fan of the album. I liked her earlier stuff but this one didn't really have the same impression on me. Either way, it's still a decent jazzy album for a good demo.

The album is okay, but the old jazz standards that she does are my favorite.

I just buy all her stuff by default as it comes out, but don't really know the names of them all. My favorite album of hers is 'Live in Paris', that's also on DVD.

Seeing that on some of the higher end KEFs when Ultimate Electronics was still out here is what first turned me on to her...

Ditto the "Live in Paris"! Also get "The Look of Love" and "When I look into Your Eyes". All are available on SACD. If you want to enjoy a good concert get the "Live in Paris" DVD. It's fabulous!

Another vote for Live in Paris. Great performance (with more solo/improv jazz than her studio stuff) and sonics are amazing. Imaging and depth of the soundstage are some of the best I've heard on CD. All of her albums are very well recorded, but I think that's the best.

Good question. I think of her as a polished (and very talented) lounge singer. I tend to see her on stage in a smoky club when she's singing.

If Norah Jones sits at the piano and bores us to sleep, Krall sits on the end of the piano flirting with the pianist. At least that's how I like to think of her. ;)

I have several of her CD's, and the one I listen to the most is "Stepping Out"; there are a couple songs I don't like, but there's a few selections with no or little vocals but lots of piano/bass/drums in exactly the syle I like.

I like "Girl In The Other Room", but to be honest I have not listened to it that much yet. Some of the songs are a bit weak, imho. I like her older stuff, but she is miked too close for my taste. I really don't need to hear every tongue and lip movement. I very much like what I've heard of her latest album, though I don't have it...yet.

Oh yeah, and she is one good lookin' motor scooter!

She is hot as all hell and I have several of her recordings. Phil has the DVD of her "Live In Paris" and I gotta tell you I heard none of the music cause I was so captivated by her beauty. Maybe that's why I like the two channel CD better LOL:eek: :D:p

I like Elvis Costello goofy (lucky) bastage and all.
