    Exactly. Thank you.

    I want a Stratos Extreme.

Who dosnt want 8 capacitors, 90,000 uF per channel, two massive transformers and a case that could squash your entire leg???

    Agreed.

Although I'd like to point out that I'm on a budget here...may have to settle with what I've got...

One thing I noticed is that the DefTech BP10B's play pretty soft with the receiver I have. In fact, when I watch TV the TV's internal speakers are louder (and easier to hear dialogue) than the DefTechs connected to the Onkyo. I mean my TV set at 1/2 volume sounds louder than the DT setup at -10 on the receiver...I can barely hear dialogue with the DefTechs 'cause they are so power hungry!

    If I could afford it...

Otherwise I would be getting something like a Parasound Halo A51 or Outlaw Model 7500...

Sometimes we need to be content with what we have and not keep "upgrading" just because we want something better.

    Hehe...

Well, comes down to that this rig Im building is hardly a budget system. (Atleast for me)...

So spending another 500 bucks to get the better amp is more than worthwhile because I know I will have the "what if" instead of the item that made the "what if" - the Stratos Extreme is on the bottom of my priority list.

Klaus has like a 3 year upgrade plan or something. So I am in no hurry on that one. My Khartago is a Stratos in a Khartago case anyways.

Nice advice. I'm still torn between getting an amp, say, the Outlaw Monoblocks, the Khartago, or just keeping my receiver and not spending any more money. Since I just bought a projector, and that consumed like 100% of my budget, I really don't have money left for anything else.

Anyways, so if you were to choose between two high-end amps for your rig, say, the Parasound Halo A21 and the Stratos Extreme, which one would you choose?

I demo'd the A21 at CES and it was nothing but phenomenal!

Would work well in my setup too.

I think I should sell the projector... would buy me a Stratos Extreme or even a Parasound Halo A21.

With your budget, I would consider something from Emotiva:

    A steal for $499.

    That Emotiva looks nice.

However, I realize that if the Onkyo I have is only putting out 52W/ch (not 100W/ch as they claim), then if I upgrade to a 125W/ch amplifier I will only get roughly 3db more headroom...

I am not necessarily looking for louder sound, just better clarity and the ability to handle 4-ohm loads.

    Any ideas?
