Pink Floyd DSTOM is an absolute must have. It is one of the few I adore in 5.1 and 2 channel. When you get try 5.1 first.
Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks

Being new to sacd's so this maybe a stupid question, sorry. But is the sacd market so small now that no local music stores don't carry these cds? If so not even a like the huge Virgin Records store in Downtown Disney, which I find parking a nightmare but I can't have everything.

You have the usual places....Elusive Disc, Music Direct, CD-Wow.com, etc. However, also check the various locations of ebay....you can locate many "import" SACD titles at substantial discount from trustworthy resellers.

Don't forget joining yourmusic.com to pick up SACDs for either $5.99 or $6.99/each (dependent on when you sign up).

The only brick-and-mortar stores that I visit for SACD are Best Buy and Fry's (if you have one in your area).

Do your research online and solicit opinions before committing your hard earned $$$.

Do a search on "Album Title" using "SACD". You should see about 50 titles....Elton John, classical, Carpenters, and one heck of a deal on the Bob Dylan boxset.

Yourmusic.com just added 2 new SACDs from The Kinks.

Thanks! I signed up for yourmusic when it was $5.99 a CD but they hiked it to $6.99 after Jan '07. I'll have to give another look for SACD there. What about amazon.com & J & R?

I don't think SACD ever gained traction in the US marketplace. The format was introduced just as digital downloading goes mainstream and it had to compete with DVD-A in a hi-rez format war. Many stores, like Best Buy, initially stocked SACD but eventually let its inventory deplete (the situation at your local Best Buy may vary). However, SACD continues to live on over the internet and still has many supporters. Even though the type of music being released on SACD may not be "your cup of tea", the format still average about 60 new titles each month on a worldwide basis. Go check out sa-cd.net and you may be surprised at what has been released on SACD.

$6.99 is still a good deal for a brand-new SACD.

I've only purchased one SACD from Amazon UK....and that was the SACD of Dire Straits' "Brothers in Arms". Never have purchased any music software from J&R (although I've purchase audio components from them and they're great).

Edit: When they have a sale, Sony Music Store can be a great place to get those now-out-of-print Sony SACD titles. I have picked up SACDs here for as low as $11.00/each including shipping (Sony usually include shipping if order total over $25.00).

    Great info thanks all.

Ok John Denver is out, I don't think I could listen to that cd. Nothing Country bummer? Jazz not sure but maybe I could enjoy, any of those which stands out? Boston sacd sparked an interest but being it's your first and only, and no one else said anything about it I put that one on hold for now.

    Danny,

Have you heard James Burton on Roy Orbison's "Black and White"? He plays lead guitar along with Roy and Bruce Springsteen. I have it on SACD and DVD. The DVD is in DTS, this live concert was performed just several month before Roy's death and is spectacular! Other artists include: Jackson Browne, Elvis Costello, J. D. Souter, Tom Waits. Backup vocalists: K. D. Lang, Bonnie Raitt and Jennifer Warnes. Incredible stuff!

The thing about yourmusic is that you need to check it every day because they get some really great deals but they don't last long.

I can't believe no one else posted on Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon. It is like an audio show off 5.1, and over 95% of my audio listening is stereo. +1 for Dire Straits BIA, but the redbook is superbly recorded too.

I give full endorsement to DSOTM I just didn't mention it cause you already did. This and Jazz at the Pawnshop were the first two SACDs I ever purchased.

The Best Buy closest to me (Hickory Hollow Mall, Nashville) no longer carries SACDs. But I've heard others here say that Best Buy's near them still carry them. I guess it depends on the local market.

Oh yes!! I have seen the concert several times when it was shown during the pledge drive on my local PBS station. The DVD + SACD is definitely on my "Must Buy" list.

For those who are members of BMG Music Service, the hybrid SACD of Heart's "Alive in Seattle" is on sale for $3.98

Not always....but you do get the joy of instant gratification. To be serious, BB's prices are generally between $13.99-$15.99/per SACD, which is about the same as online. You get to pay sales tax at BB while you pay shipping for online orders.
