I had to buy new drivers for one of my SDA-1c's because they were damaged
in shipment when I bought them. The replacement driver for the MW 6510 is the MW6503. I have one speaker that has 2 MW 6511's and 2 MW 6510's and the other has 2 new MW6511's and 2 new MW6503's. The cones on the MW6503's breakup and distort at loud volumes. I have interchanged every possible combination of speakers, amplifier connections but the two MW6503's distort. I even tried running a MW6503 and MW6510 in each speaker and then they both distort. the MW6503 does not appear to be a direct replacement???? The only thing I have not done is buy two more MW6503's so I have a mirror image set. Need some adivce. Thanks in advance

Are you sure you used a gasket and got the cabinets sealed tight?>

I have 4 brand new polk drivers with gaskets. The mw6503's distort in either cabinet. When I push on the bass radiator, on either cabinet. The amount of travel on the MW6511's and MW6510's are almost double that of the MW6503's its like the MW6503's have a stiffer suspension than the other drivers.

I just replaced all the gaskets, on the drivers, passive woofer, and back plate with new foam weather stripping. May be the new drivers are stiff and need to work in. However when I push in on the passive radiator the new drivers do not travel out as far as the older drivers.

I responded to the same thread you started in the "troubleshooting" area. It is better if you post a question in just one area. It is easier for both the respondents and the poster to keep track of things.Proud and loyal citizen of the Digital Domain and Solid State Country!
