Is anyone else excited about seeing 300? Looks to be not just eyecandy but also has some well respected actors in it, too.

It looks very good. I haven't heard any reviews yet--I'd rather be surprised. When does it come out, again?

It's probably going to be a PQ showcase piece at absolute worst. HDDVD? :) Should be a great movie, and I have been highly anticipating this release.

Im not usually one for epic's, but the visual style of this film has me fairly excited. Has a very Sin City esque feel to it (hmm, wonder why....).

Ill probably see it in theaters, should be a fun time.

I'm definitely looking forward to this one as well. It's getting good reviews from the critics so far based on rottentomatoes.com. I guess we'll find out in about a week if it lives up to the hype.

The movie looks good, but its based on an actual historical event. I guess the moviemakers took HUGE liberties with this.

As in previous threads on this topic I also loved the first one (300 Spartans) and was excited about this new one. As more previews were released I got a little nervous that it was looking too over-the-top and being turned instead into sci-fi fantasy. I later learned that the movie is a attempt at a true interpretation of Frank Miller's graphic novel "300" (which you should all try to get a copy of, its very cool) instead of being "historically accurate".

My apprehension is now gone so bring it on. I loved the look and feel of Sin City.

    It's here !!

....the Post-Dispatch "reviewer" gave a bizarre review. "Gory Battle '300' is Closer to Zero".

"Gerald Butler, preposterously ripped..." (Yeah, them Spartans were well known for their beer bellys).

"Armed only with shields and hoary slogans about freedom, the Spartans repel wave after wave of Persians." (Well......yeah ! Guess those were pretty effective 'hoary' slogans)

....and so forth. Verdict ? This movie is a must see.

There was a story on ...... uhm ..... the History Channel, or maybe the Learning Channel last night about the battle, and the history behind it.
The graphics may, or may not, be 'over the top', but ..... I don't care . :)

Might call in sick to work, tonight, as a matter of fact.

I could care less if it's historically accurate or not. This is a must see in my book. I just wish the IMAX theater in Indy was going to run it. So far it hasn't been put on their schedule

I didn't know the local theater showed it at midnight last night. I guess I'll have to go with everyone else today at noon.

In BR or HD dvd it should be stunning. Im going to the movies to catch it and it looks to me to be a no brainer buy but then again its my kinda movie, accurate ahhhhh its entertaintment I can watch history channel for accurate. This stirs interest even if it not accurate and thats a good thing.Somtimes history needs a little story telling.

Saw it this afternoon. This was the first time to the movies in a couple of years.

I really liked it. If you don't like gore, blood, or beheadings, it's not for you.

I just wish I didn't want all the previews from xbox live, gave a little too much away. I'm still glad I spent my $7 to see it today. Now I can't wait for it to come to HDDVD.

That special was really really good. There is so much more to the Spartans than their discipline and military prowess.

so just how bloody is it? My wife has a pretty low tolerance for gore so I might have to wait for the DVD on this one.

Caught most of the history channel special. Pretty interesting stuff.

It's not that bad because it's stylized. I don't like blood and guts stuff either and I LOVE this movie.
