    I had a bottle of Deja Bottled water...........I drink it, went down well, then all of a sudden......I saw dead people........weird!!

    Bottled water? I get a couple buckets everyday down at the creek for momma. Hard to carry those big bottles back and forth....

    STOP RUSSMAN CORNYN WINS $500,000 SETTLEMENT FROM JLT BEVERAGES, L.P. AND DR PEPPER BOTTLING COMPANY OF TEXAS
    Unsanitary conditions at manufacturing site of Deja Blue bottled water alleged
    AUSTIN - Texas Attorney General John Cornyn today announced a $500,000 settlement with Irving-based JLT Beverages, L.P., and Dr Pepper Bottling Company of Texas. Under the terms of the settlement, the company will not manufacture beverages in unsanitary conditions and is required to properly label their bottled water. JLT Beverages, L.P., manufactures Deja Blue bottled water at the Irving plant of Dr Pepper Bottling Company of Texas where soft drinks and other beverages are also manufactured.

    The Texas Department of Health (TDH) referred JLT Beverages, L.P., and Dr Pepper Bottling Company of Texas to the Attorney General for alleged violations of the Texas Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act. The State's allegations were based on inspections by TDH, beginning in 1997 through 1999.

    The State alleges that these companies were:

    operating under unsanitary, moldy conditions;
    manufacturing and distributing bottled water containing bacteria on at least three occasions;
    failing to recall all Deja Blue bottled water which was contaminated from distribution;
    failing to disclose the source of the bottled water and the name of the manufacturer on the label as required by state and federal law; and
    failing to perform all required bacteriological analysis in late 1997 through 1999.
    JLT Beverages, L.P., and Dr Pepper Bottling Company of Texas have agreed to settle this matter with an Assurance of Voluntary Compliance and the payment of $500,000 to the State. The terms of the AVC require that all food products, including bottled water, must be manufactured in sanitary conditions; that bottled water is properly labeled; and that weekly bacterial testing on their bottled water be performed and records maintained.

    In addition, JLT Beverages, L.P., and Dr Pepper Bottling Company of Texas assure the State that a recall strategy is in place and will be implemented if food products, including bottled water, are determined to present a risk of injury or illness to the public.

    In the settlement agreement JLT Beverages, L.P., and Dr Pepper Bottling Company of Texas deny allegations of all illegal activity. This case was handled by Joyce Wein Iliya, an Assistant Attorney General in the Dallas Office of the Attorney General's Consumer Protect
