Well I was just starting a movie and my center just quit working. No sound, scratchiness no anything. Any ideas??? I have it narrowed down and it is the speaker for sure. TIA, Steve

Are you sure it's the speaker? I own one have trouble believing it would die 100%, you have tweet, woofers different cross overs if you consider the bi-wire capability. I would try swapping it for a front channel speaker to test out further.

Yeah its for sure the speaker. Luckily I had 2 pair or 25is to use as a back-up till I figure out whats wrong with it. When I push on the right side driver....it doesn't want to move very smoothly. Still no sound out of either driver or tweeter. Tried both sets of binding posts.

Congrats Bass! There is no such thing as more power than you need, or more power than the speakers can handle.

The speakers will draw exactly what they need to sound their best. Your ears will give out long before the speakers do!

Well this certainly wasn't the case. My ears held up fine. Took the speaker apart today and the tweeter and 1 driver are done for. I don't know about the cross-over yet as Polk CS told me I can't check it with only 1 working driver. If anyone has replacement speaker for this I posted in the WTB forum. Polks replacements will cost almost as much as a used speaker on EBay. $132+ shipping(Polk discount applied) OMG. The retail on the tweeter alone is $88

I cooked a CS400 brand new from Crutchfield, long ago. I did not calibrate and cranked up the icefield scene from Titan AE. After learning to properly calibrate, i have never had a problem. Those Monster amps are bad a$$, nothing but clean sound.
    Hope ya get it fixed....
