Hearingimpared, as far as getting a digital signal back to the actual analog sinewave from which it was converted, doing so with total precision has been the basis of data transmission for many years in audio as well as sciences quite a bit more critical which depend on absolute accuracy. Nyquist proved mathematically about 80 years ago that if at least two digital samples were available, the analog waveform is exactly replicated. Practice in the various sciences has proven this out, and as applied to audio the result of course is that the standard CD sampling at 44.1KHz has at least two samples available up to 22.05KHz and precisely reproduces analog waveforms up to and including that frequency.

Atta boy, now we're talking. Can't argue with science. Maybe these vinyl guys when talking about the "warmer" sound, there house heater just kicked on. Just a thought. Maybe in the summer it's a "cooler" sound to them, unless they don't have AC then I guess it's still "warmer" to them. Who knows?

Phil you know that is rediculous!!! If that were true then there would be no need for really good DACs and SACD and XRCD and HDCD etc etc etc. You, yourselve have heard that digital glass breaking, digital fingernails across the blackboard sound.

Random thought: could the renewed interest in vinyl analog gear and tube equipment be responsible for global warming?

    Probably.

Who listens to sinewaves? Just out of morbid curiosity.

Different strokes for left handed people. There is no 'right' answer in terms of digital/analog. It's all about preference.

As much as I like analog, I realize it is a far from perfect medium and that said, well executed digital, especially, high resolution formats have really narrowed the gap in terms of overall musical experience.

Sort of like arguing over blondes and brunettes - which is best. Answer is of course both, at the same time (with a redhead thrown in).
