Ok. this isn't funny.. because someone could get hurt.. and I have heard from people that gettting tasered isn't any fun. but damn.. tazering granny to get her to leave?

NORTH BONNEVILLE, Wash. –- Police arrested a Bonneville man who admitted using a Taser gun on his wife's 79-year-old grandmother during an argument.

An unrepentant Aaron Debruyn, 26, told KGW he doesn't regret what he did. He said he repeatedly asked her to leave his apartment.

"...I said, 'if you don’t leave, I will taser you. I’m going to count to 60,' ” Debruyn recalled.

Debruyn told officers he used his Taser gun to get his wife's grandmother, Rosemary, to leave and -- according to North Bonneville Police Chief Calvin Owens -- to avoid a physical confrontation with the elderly woman. She was not seriously injured.

The incident happened Wednesday morning during a disagreement about discipline for Debruyn's son. His wife said she stands behind her husband.

Debruyn was held at Skamania County Jail on assault charges for about 30 hours before he was released Thursday.

The Taser was confiscated as evidence in the investigation.

I guess it depends on the voltage? From what I've seen they come in a wide range of voltages. The one I was using while playing with friends wasn't too high in voltage but damn, that thing still hurt badly.

I can't imagine a stronger voltage than what we use (I forget the number) and we can zap 'em all we like no matter their physical condition.:p

Here in Austin the hippies are all in a tizzy over police use of tasers.

There is even someone trying to pass legislation forbidding the use of tasers unless the circumstances are the same as to warrant firing their gun.:confused:

    Can you say stupid?

They should discontinue use of tasers in that area and switch to poisonous darts that temporalily paralyze.

    GRANDmother-in-law.

I love how the wife stands by her husband, rather than her own GRANDMOTHER. MAN. She must be like my dad's grandmother, who was supposedly the biggest witch in the state, by most accounts.

As punishment the cops should take his taser, aim at his jewels & zap him till he passes out. When he wakes up repeat from step one!

All he had to do was call the cops & had HER escorted out! ****!

Well that's wrong I agree, but that marriage he is in is going south. IMHO I'll put the wife under the bus for this one she needs to end the her mother butting in on their marriage and driving her husband to the point he felt he needed to do that.

We used 50,000 volts. They hurt like a mother..... I highly doubt there are stronger sizes than cops... and like wing said, they can be used on everybody.

I've read the civilian Tasers, from Taser, are actually stronger than LE models. Probably less liability with the armed citizen than the po.

I agree with Cathy in the fact that he could of handled this in so many less hurtful ways. Now the retribution that she suggests, I cannot agree with.

*cringe* Why is the answer to always mess with the jewels? It hurts me to just read that suggestion.

Well if it makes you or any other man feel like a big man to beat up on a 79 yr old woman or even a 79 yr old man, than you are using your jewels for your brain instead of your head! Therefore, you should be hit where you live!

I know you guys think this is a riot, but this could have turned deadly. She could have had a heart attack!

Here in Boston a few yrs back the cops raided a home they suspected was a drug house. They had the wrong house & when they kicked in the door, all they found was an old man who promptly had a heart attack & died!

Cost the city a lot of money to settle the lawsuit that followed.

I'm sure your wife will approve of you zapping her as well BBL. Nice to know that you approve of domestic abuse.

I didn't approve of this action, I just stated that they needed to read the book. Proper feeding and care of your marriage by Dr. Laural.

That marriage is in the toilet and that man was driven nuts, any lawyer could get him off IMHO.

Started over a spank on a 7 month old boy diaper when several No's didn't work when he was reaching behind his AVR equipment. Grandmother-in law said that was child abuse and she was going to take the kid, he said leave she said no. He got is taser gun for a burglary (thank god it wasn't a pistol he had instead) and counted down from 60. I say it's the WIFE fault as she should have put and end of the Grandmothers butting in way before that point.

Cathy, I usually agree with you on most topics, but it seems you are coming across rather uptight on this one. Should the guy have tased the old lady, no. Is it funny, Yes. The guy was arrested, and the lady is fine. Taser's aren't deadly force. Relating the cops kicking in a door and the old man dying, and tasing somebody aren't even on the same page.

Also, to call out Big Blue for approving of domestic abuse, when he was clearly joking, is a little overboard. I don't know your background, but there is nothing wrong with getting a little chuckle outta a funny story. I'm sure you have never laughed at the "Darwin Awards" either huh? I personally know Big Blue would never approve of domestic violence.

I think an apology is in order.
