Hi Guys,

Would you buy Velodyne SPL-800R or SPL-1000R over Polk PSW1000?

Thanks in advance,

Depending on what you like....a lot of bass or sq you might look to the spl 12 or even the brand SVS. Everyone here will at least agree on that if nothing else!

I recently bought a Velo SPL 800 series II used. I've had some issues with the amp turning on in response to an input signal. When it works it has amazing punch for its very compact size. I use it in a small room, pretty much for music listening only, to give some bottom to a high quality pair of monitors. If using it for home theater or in a larger room, the SPL 1000 would probably be better.

Thanks for your quick responses so far.
I'm going to use the sub more for mine home theater. My budget is between the PSW1000 and Velodyne SPL-800R (maybe stretch to SPL-1000R).

Do you have a y connector? If not this should resolve any issue with the auto on problem!

The Velodyne SPL series is superior to all the polk subs. I like Polk 2 but Veloydyne does a much better job.
There DD series is very good, tricky to get setup to sound good with music but with lots of time and efford, it can be done.

I am actually running a pair of stereo interconnects from a passive preamp to the line level L/R inputs of the sub, then a pair of interconnects from the line level outputs of the sub back to an amp.

How long of a run..and with what brand of interconnect?

If for home theater go bigger... then you will have no regrets...you can alway turn it down...only so far you can turn it up!
