Do you have any pics of the HDDVD player......If it is already above I apologize....I have been known to overlook the obvious because I am kinda dumb sometimes.
Nope, you are not wrong! I haven't had a chance to take pics yet - it's always a bit of an ordeal to haul out the tripod, grab some lamps, find some charged batteries, etc :D

The HDDVD is 8/10. I you're interested let me know and I'll be more motivated to take pics sooner rather than later.

Are you willing to sell that equipment stand too?
Sorry, the stands are staying here for now. I'll be using them for my significantly scaled down speaker rig. And thankfully I'll still have my high end headphones to enjoy music with (except now a headphone amp will be doing double duty as preamp) :p

agreed. it kicks butt on many players that are several times the money. that is one of the few items i wish to own before i die. sorta like things i want to do before i die list but in audio.:p REGARDS SNOW
Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D

Yep, the SCD1 is one of the most beautifully built sources out there. It weights a SOLID 60 lbs! You can bank on pride of ownership with this one, as there clearly was pride taken in the design and construction of this ship. Its redbook playback is excellent and SACD is nothing short of stunning. I replaced a very respected current model $4.4K redbook source, the Meridian G08, with the SCD1.

Are you sure the Sunfire is a Sig II ? as opposed to the Original Sig ?

    I thought the Sig II was 625 wpc @ 8 ohms ...

Does it have gold binding posts ? or red & black ?

Yes, it's a Sig Series II, which is the only version to come in the 17" Architectural width. Binding posts are all gold (no plastic parts). I believe the series II label is also printed either on the back of the amp and/or manual, which I can verify when I get home.

It was my error listing it as a 600 Watt/ch - I was incorrectly reading off the specs on the previous version. Actually there's no 600 in the name of this amp, I was also at fault for calling it that - my apologies everyone. You are correct that it's rated at 625 Watts into 8 ohms. Also, this amp is rated for 1300 Watts/ch into 4 ohms, making it an even better deal :D

You can see from his post above, he knows what to do.

If you want to take good pics of your gear, either
    1) Go outdoors on a cloudy day for photos, or
    2) Setup a tripod and get some good lighting.

Flashes make gear look like crap, so does the blur induced by hand held cameras.

I usually take my gear into the kitchen where there's good light, or bring in the 1500W halogen floodlight from the garage. I always use the tripod too.
For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore...

One of the nice features the Sunfire amps have whether stereo or multichannel is the outputs for left, right and center typically have a current as well as voltage output allowing speaks to be biamped or biwired with a softer "tube like" output being sent to the tweets if desired.

I have two of the 5 channel Sig II's ... They really are excellent ...

    Guys/gals
I've got a bit of a mystery here! When I got home from work I went to verify the "Series II" designation, but the amp is actually labelled as the old "600x2" variant. That sucks, since this amp was sold to me on audiogon as a Series II - but wait, there's more! My amp's chassis is indeed the shorter 17" version that's only advertised for Series II. Furthermore, the back panel layout matches that of the newer Series II, not the 600x2.

I found these pics for two different ads on audiogon...

My amp's layout looks like THIS Series II (complete with the all-metal binding posts):
    1168652064.jpg
However, my amp is missing the text that says "Architect's Choice Series II"

My amp does NOT look anything like this old 600x2:
    1167891761.jpg

So, I'm thinking perhaps this was one of the first runs production runs of the series II, before they got marketing to update the name & specs. In other words, I'm guessing (hoping) it's the guts & chassis of a series II with the old 600x2 label. Anyone know anything about this?

I apologize for the confusion I've caused in my ad. Until today, I was blissfully ignorant of this oddity. If it turns out this is the older 600x2 I'll have to adjust the price downwards a bit.

Currently, the BAT VK-5i and Sony SCD-1 are SOLD

The Sunfire mystery is still unsolved. I'm going to see if I can't take a few more pics here tonight.

*Assuming* I've got essentially a new Series II with the old "600x2" label, I'll still knock down the price from $1650 + ship to $1580 + ship. That's a $420 break from what I paid for it on audiogon a few months ago! Obviously if we find out it's really the old 600x2 (doubtful from the layout, IMO), then I suppose I'll have to drop the price a bit further as much as I'd hate to lose even more $'s on this sale.

Yeah ... I think you should knock $500 off :D

Sorry for bringing this up at all ... but the specs just didn't seem to match.

I think your assessment of what it really is, is probably on target and anyone buying it will also be blissfully ignorant once they power it up ...

Here's closeup pics of my Sunfire unit. It's a beaut - that cannot be denied. Note how the chassis & back panel are exactly the same as the Series II except for some minor differences in the silk-screening text. I measured with a ruler - it's exactly 17" wide:

The 17" is a great improvement over the 19". My 19" classic pre won't fit in my rack so I have to sit it sideways.

    That's a different one yet ... It's the Series I version of this ... http://www.sunfire.com/Signature600FrontPR.htm

The distingusihing mark is the Signature 600 Two in the bottom left of the front ... the back confirms it is not a Series II.

Sunfire made this mucho confusing with two series of two channel amps each of which had two models a ~300 wpc and a ~600 wpc, each of which had a Series I and II ...

Unfortuately that kinda sucks since I thought I had the latest version! Oh well - I'd hate to take more loss on this amp so it's off to audiogon it goes...

Closing out this thread, since it's all been decided!

Sony SCD-1, Sunfire amp, Toshiba HDDVD, and BAT preamp are all sold! Thanks everyone!

Legacy Speakers and LAT cables are no longer for sale. This week I finally got the speaks singing in my room, and having generated enough cash from the above sales - there's no way I'm letting them go now!
