blown voice coil!

I think i have a blown voice coil. This is my system: X590 Kenwood Head Unit, MRP-F240 Alpine Amp in bridge mode (100W x 2 RMS 360 x 2 peak) hooked to 2 db 6500 component Polks in my front doors and 2 db 460 in rear pillar running off the head unit. System started cutting out when balance was set to 0. I can put the balance on the right side and everything is fine. So I swapped speaker outputs on the amp, problem stayed on the left side. Would like to know what would cause this to happen, did I just get a bum speaker? Also, what are my options, can I just buy a replacement speaker?

post this in the car audio forum.
Is that a 4 channel amp? 2 channel amp?
If it is 2 channel why do you have 2 sets of speakers to each channel? That would cause a variation in the ohm load leading to blown speakers/blown amp.
Anyway, put it in the car forum. -
its a 4 channel amp but i only have the 6.5's hooked to the amp.

Power Handling (continuous) 100 w
Power Handling (peak) 300 w
Considering your putting 360w into a 300w peak speaker, I can pretty much say that is your problem as to why you blew the speaker. -
That's only if he's been jamming it at full volume. Honestly, having head room is always good if you make sure you never distort it, but if he went and cranked it routinely at full volume, yeah, it's fried.
What were you doing when it stopped functioning?Lovin that music year after year.
