i think i got lucky because circuit city doesn't usually stock this stuff. maybe they just happened to have one and marked it down because nobody bought it.
yeah, they usually have no idea what they're talking about when you ask them you know more than they do.....funny
anyway, it works good, the maps auto change and directions are live. only thing left to verify would be the atrac3 capability.
but this deck is pretty odd how it operates. i think this is the second time it's happenned to me where i had to go in for some maintenance. 2 days ago my battery died on me, so the next morning when i got the car started i went got a new battery @ the dealer. when i get the car back the deck is unusually hot and a code is on the display, when i press a button it says help. since i had a key cd programmed, i went home and got the key cd to cancel the lockout.
but still, don't know why it gets hot like that when main power is inturrupted.....Eclipse CD7000

i got the sony reader today, but i don't have the car
it's at the audio shop finalizing some stuff....
one thing i'm not quite getting is that sonicstage is creating a group and transferring the files onto the ms in atrac3 format, but when i look on the ms, the songs are located in the HIFI folder. does this sound right ? i think the manual says put the songs in root.....
not sure if it did the same thing for you, can you verify ? don't see an option to transfer them to the root directory from within sonicstage. but the version that came with the ms was 3.2, think maybe i should download the latest.....Eclipse CD7000

so what am i doing wrong now ? getting MSINFO 7 again.
questions:
does there need to be nothing on the ms except the songs ?
sonicstage is dumping the ATRAC3's into the HIFI folder by default, is that right ?
i tried moving them from HIFI to the root of the stick and it said CHECK for a little while then it spit at me with MSINFO 7 again....
i went out of my way to get the reader, and still....nadaEclipse CD7000

When I transferred the music, I just let SonicStage do its thing.
I will check the MS to see where the music files are.Alpine: CDA-7949

i tried changing some settings in sonicstage and letting transfer the files, but then it made my deck freeze. so i erased the songs from the ms and put it back in the deck and it worked fine.Eclipse CD7000

The music is under the HIFI folder. I also have this other folder named CONTROL (in the root menu along with the HIFI and MSFTEN folders) with a file named NAME.MSF and a folder named PACKAGES. Inside the PACKAGES folder there is a file named DEVICE.SAL and 25 folders sarting with the name PKG and five characters following the PKG. The 25 folders correspond to the amount of music files I have in the HIFI folder.Alpine: CDA-7949

My MS is full of other stuff. I have the snapshots of my system, the files that I downloaded from the Eclipse site with the sound tuning parameters, and a bunch of visualization stuff on it (both from the Eclipse site and the ones I made on my own).Alpine: CDA-7949

One other thing I forgot to mention. I did not download the Sonicstage software from the CD-ROM, the box said that if you had a newer version than the one on the CD to not download the one from the CD, but keep the one you already have.Alpine: CDA-7949
