I have, but it was without the navigation add-on. I had to change the screens manually. If you have the add-on it will change the screens for you, and show you where you are at on the map automatically. It will also show you things like speed, a compass, and I think can also raise and lower you volume according to your speed. You may want to check on the last one though.

The only thing is that if you deviate from the route, it will not keep up with you. Reason I did not get it. If I can pick one up used for cheap, I may give it a shot.

reason i ask is because i input a route into e-iserv and it spit out a file which i put in the AREA directory, and when i went to FUNC/AREA SHOT and tried to read it, it said no data.
the map was a relatively long trip i set, like 1500 miles, but the file was a very quick download and the screen kept blinking the satellite as if it was still working, but didn't see any net activity for a while so i closed out the window.

wonder if it's distance/map limited or something...i was planning to get a GPS105 also, but it doesn't want to show me the map i downloaded to MS so i'm not sure about it.

do you need to use internet explorer ? because i use firefox....

Was just on the Eclipse website... it seems that they not only added the 8v features to the CD7100, but also made it a dead HU. I always thought, who the heck would buy this HU to run it without outboard amplifiers..........this thing is looking kind of interesting to me now :D. They also did away with the Sony MS section, and just went with the USB option.

Mine has worked everytime I've done it. The longest one I've done is a little over 500 miles though. I don't think that should be the reason that it did not work though.... Do you have the AREA folder in the MSFTEN folder?

One thing that would be great is if in the standard 4sp+sub mode they would also allow you to have the bass, mid, and treble controls on top of the sub volume control. This would make any adjustment on the fly very easy. I had this on my CD8455, but lost the ability to control the sub volume in that mode.

if they don't list it as a feature to turn off i doubt it can be turned off. but im liking the new display it looks more colorful, easier to read. i wonder if the ipod integration got better....

yeah the folder is in MSFTEN i still don't know why it's not reading the AST file. but the file is only 64K and it was named home61.ast .... correct me if i'm wrong but if there's map images & other info wouldn't the file be much larger ?

still not working. i doing a new route and this time the file came out to 140k. still no data reading on the deck. i also use this ms for esn, would that make any difference ?

i only got one file, perhaps it should download more files ?

    weird....very weird....

oh well. i usually do it the old fashioned way and mapquest it on paper. if i want to get directions in the car, i'll probably upgrade to the 6610 some day.

here is the deal with this issue now: i call eclipse and the tech guy walks me thru it just to be sure i'm not doing anything wrong. after all that work, i told him that i'm using the stick for esn. he said that was the problem, cannot use area shot with a ms thats been used for esn. strange, but whatever. i had no problem using this stick to transfer wallpaper and sound settings.

so i try the same ast file on a cd. same thing, "NO DATA". since i bought the deck from a dealer in another state, i would have to send it out on my own. be out the hole for 5-7 days before it comes back.

not sure if i want to go thru all the trouble doing that....

can i ask, do you use a seperate ms for esn and other things ? have you also tried loading stuff to your deck with a cd-r ?

When I first bought the HU I did not have a MS, so I used a cd-r to transfer stuff to it.

I used a Key CD to activate the ESN. I did not feel comfortable using the MS.

by now i'm all paranoid about this....but i went to a circuit city because they had one last gps-105 unit for EXTREMELY cheap, so i figured i'd bring my ms along. by now i had formatted it to FAT on my computer and then formatted it on my deck, and loaded it with the ast file.

when i got there i tried it in the display unit and still the same thing: NO DATA.

i seriously have no idea what is going on. i even tried creating an ast on someone else's computer and putting it on the ms, still no go.....

    cd-r is not working either.....

this is really ticking me off.
but at least i got the gps105 for 25 bucks (brand new)...now i hope it works.

    yes it is....
i found that this unit need to plug directly into the deck, so i can't test it just yet. if it was e-lan, then it would have been easy since i've got 2 e-lan boxes under the passenger seat.

wondering where i should put the antenna.....

i tried plugging the unit in yesterday and when you cycle thru the screens, it shows the heading screen. i didn't try to look @ speed or coordinates since i didn't have the manual in my hand and didn't know how to do it, but it would be very cool to get area shot to work.

for some strange reason, the only thing i've been sucessful @ with data transfer is the wallpaper...

well, i was sucessful in doing motion picture and sound data.

on e-iserv it says you need to create a SOUND folder, but in the manual it says you need to create a DATA folder (for sound data). with the DATA folder i was able to import the sound customization data.

area shot still not working, trying to figure it out.....

i also ordered the sony ms reader to test out atrac3 playback.

as it turns out i found out that for area shot i would need to wipe out the ms and create the MSFTEN and AREA folders. then put the file in and it should work....

what i was doing was using the ms with other stuff on it (sound data/motion picture/wallpaper). when i get a chance to try it i will report back to verify.

    eclipse can't write a manual for ****.......

furthermore....i tried to activate custom mode so many times and it would not turn on. there's an on/off feature when you go into custom mode. but it's not intuitive, and the book says you need to go to ON and press enter. but that give me a NO DATA message. tech support said you need to go to the custom mode menu, and with off selected, press and hold the custom button until it turns on.

hopefully, finally, i will now be able to operate all the deck's features after 8 months trying to figure this crap out.....

Try storing the custom file into one of the PEQ memory buttons. Then go to the custom menu and turn it on..... I agree, Eclipse makes some very poor owner manuals...

    it finally works.....FINALLY.

the book and the online help say that the file 'can' be renamed. but tech support says i don't have to rename it.

but i decided to rename it to exactly 8 alphanumeric characters and see what happens. it finally showed up. and so now i am going to hook up the GPS and see if it works with it.

    i am finally relieved.....

if i find a way to get in touch with fujitsu ten corporate i will bash them royally because tech support is as lowsy as the manual. you call them up and you get background noise because they chose not to use cubicles as part of some kind of cost-cutting strategy or something......and they didn't know what they were talking about either because i am also able to use the same ms with area shot and wallpapers/motion pictures/sound data, etc.... which they said i could not do.

    it's pathetic.

but yeah, now the map moves when i drive and i get a beep when i get close to a turn. cool.

didn't notice the AVL working, not sure what speed range it's sensitivity works on.....

Now you have me wanting to give this thing a shot. I actually went down to my local Circuit City, but the guy said they did not have any. He was actually not very helpful, or informed about any of the products I inquired about.

I had asked him about the internal volume of one of their boxes.... he kind of looked at it and said 1.75 cubic feet. I actually laughed a little, and asked him if he was serious. I then told him that that box was closer to 1 cube than to 2 cubes, and proceded to show him one of their enclsoures that was 1.75 cubic feet. He then gave me another number which after we looked it up was wrong again.

Anyway I will look around to see if I can get the same deal you did. If I do, it will be going it my car.
