I'll dredge this up to say that, regardless of what you thought of the plot, the acting, the morality, whatever......the long, single cut scenes of this movie are the most impressive I've ever seen. The entire last blow em scene is one long take, with perfect choreography of a hundred extras and tons of pyro. It puts that famous scene in Goodfellas to shame. Hell, it humiliates it!!

And I really liked the movie :)

I also saw this recently. Didn't really like it. Although, browsing up through this thread, I still disagree with all who claim this movie was all anti-Bush. You guys are just trying too hard to find controversy. The only guy who mentioned Bush was the hippie guy, who also had stuff from the 60's and 70's up. I think the movie was bad but not for political reasons.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

My curiosity is piqued at this point, but I think I'll wait for the dvd for this one.

And I'd have to agree with other comments on V for Vendetta; man what a disappointment. I can't put my finger on it, other than to say it seemed that many sections of the movie that should have been short were long, and vice versa. Like when the president (or whatever he is) gets smoked towards the end. It was 5 seconds and done. Maybe that was an intentional "statement", but there were many other spots in the film where I felt the same way.

I'll give it another go in about a month from now, but V definitely disappointed me in relation to the high expectations I had going into it.

Watched this last week on HD DVD, the pq/sq were excellent to say the least. I have to admit I was lost in the movie the first viewing thinking I missed something when it ended, turns out I didnt.

Saw this last night. Excellent movie but almost as DEPRESSING as Requiem for a Dream . I wish I could say I'll see it again, because Children of Men certainly merits its critical acclaim. I just felt absolutely bludgeoned and raw after two hours.

The revolutionary battle at the end had me nearly retching. I can't imagine how some of you HT guys with your SVS subs and 200wpc behemoths could even get through it without inheriting some amount of Post-traumatic Stress Syndrome:D

That being said... very well-written. Any complaints about the abrupt ending are lost on me. It wasn't conventional. "Conventional" bores me. Michael Caine gave a stellar (if a bit, over the top) performance. Political? Maybe...
But to focus on this aspect would be to lose touch with the crux of the movie.

With all that being said... this had to be one of the most beautifully shot films in recent memory. Dirt, grime, and violence aside. Excellent use of the camera. The initial getaway down the gravel hill from the farmhouse was extremely clever and inventive.

My complaint about the movie was that there really wasn't anything they told in the movie, we have seen the same over and over. Pretty much a mindless action flick, ala Aeon Flux but with better acting and filming (much better). I would have loved the movie if it had some depth to it but it didn't, the visuals were that good.

Good point. I was like, blah... nothing new here. I turned it off at the end, and was glad it was just a rental.

I don't know how the battle scene was so great ZB, but whatever floats your boat. I felt that it was good acting, (Happens when you have good actors in the movie :D) but overall, there wasn't much depth to the plot.

Maybe a 6 outta 10 for me... and that's tops.

I didn't think it was great, so much as it had me out of breath. A lot of shots of people glimpsed in the corner of the screen only to be blown away seconds later. Unlike most battles sequences, the details were in the background -- not focused on whatever protagonist is filling up the screen at the present moment. The explosions and shots were almost too random. Most movies of this ilk, you can fall into a somewhat predictable pattern.

    This one just unnerved me.

finally watched it today. eeeeeehhhhh at best. I'm not expecting a movie to come right out and explain everything but nothing was explained here. What made humans not reproduce? What was Project Human going to do for them? What was the uprising really about? Just left me thinking "I really needed to do something else during this wasted time."

This one was different. I liked the feel of the action sequences, especially when they are in the car in the beginning. I also recognized the actor that played the bad guy in Serenity. I loved his character in that one. Kind of Iago in Othello.

Quite possibly one of the worst peices of crap that I have ever forced myself to sit through. I liked some of the camera angles used and the way some of the action was filmed, but that was it. BOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

Just saw this last night on HD DVD. The video was great and I loved the style of the movie. It definitely gave my subwoofers a workout. I had to hide behind the couch during a couple of scenes :p BUT...what the hell was going on!?

Definitely hard to follow. I got the basics but I was confused a lot with the plot and that sapped the enjoyment factor. If not for that I would have given it a thumbs up. Good subwoofer reference scenes though....

Just read this.:) My roommate watched it with me and that definitely made her uncomfortable. Seriously. She was a little shell shocked and did not enjoy being in the middle of a firefight.

Agreed! I could not believe that. It was amazingly well done and IMO worth watching the movie for.

Honestly, I got it free on my MVP account at Hollywood video and I was seriously pissed that I wasted my time watching it. The plot had so many holes and was thoroughly underdeveloped. Not to mention it bored me to tears.

    Children of Men was horrible...

    BUUUUT, Little Children was awesome.
