Not only is it safe, but they are going to be Rockin'. The specs for these speakers indicate a max of 275 watts.

ok thats awesome another question? polk audio uses a 8ohm speaker impedence, i was considering buying a onkyo TX-SR804 7.1 channel reciever but i found out the speaker impedence is only 6 ohms or 4 ohms can this run a set of monitor 40 bookshelfs and a monitor series center channel, or should i go with the rotel rsx-1067 surround sound a/v receiver which is rated at 8 ohms

I think you're looking at it from the wrong angle..

An amp rated to drive 4 Ohm speaks can also drive speakers rated at 6 Ohms and 8 Ohms.

An amp or reciever rated to drive 8 Ohm speaks should only be used with 8 Ohm speakers.

Don't sweat the ohms stuff. Your Onkyo 804 will have no problem driving Polk speakers.

If you are still looking for an amp, look at a carver M400t or M1.0t. They are both 200w rms a channel at 8 ohms.

I really like Outlaw Audio. They have great customer support, great equipment, and best of all great prices. Might be worth your time to check them out. This is an internet only based company, but you can return anything you dont like within 30 days of receiving the equipment. So, dont let that stray you away from them.

    Good luck.

This would be for a Pre/pro and amplifiers only.. They do make a great bass management system as well.. I think that may be in conjuction with SMS.

There dont seem to be many mon70 fans around. But i am/was. I needed something to put into my HT that would fit two bills.

One would be for HT for movies, the other which is my staple of enjoyment when it comes to entertainment are concerts on DVD. I auditioned the rti and monitor lines. If it came down to simply movies, i would of chose the rti's and not thought about it again. But as you will read here many people feel the rti's are a bit bright for music, and i came to the same conclusion.

The monitors were a bit more laid back to my ears, but still retained the detail i was looking for. Now they arent the perfect speakers for everything, but for my purposes i couldnt find better for the cost.

Ive recently sold my mon70's and upgraded to a pair of 2.3tl's. To be honest, im missing my 70's. Not that i prefer them over the 2.3's but just that they to me sounded great and really didnt leave me wanting. My only regret was selling them. Kinda wish i had just thrown em in the closet for a bit until i found another use for em.

But with that said, im obviously a fan. If you purchase a pair i would advise getting a decent amp to push em with. For reasons unknown to me i liked em better on my lil ole 545 than i do the 555's, so it would be easy to stay within a budget if you choose to.

One last thing, i initially ran them off an Integra DTR 7 which if you dont know is Onkyo. They sounded great. Its a funny mix Onkyo and Polk, they really seem to compliment eachother well. But enough of my blabbing, if you have any questions about the 70's let me know and ill relay my thoughts.

I believe the Monitor 70's are grossly underrated...

different schools of thought. I have a monster HTS 3600 (bought it used for less than 200.00 I dont know if it made a sonic difference, since I hooked it up while changing amplification and whatnot

I will say I like having all my stuff going through some kind of power conditioning. I wouldnt want it just going into the wall

now, is it worth 600.00, I'd say nah. look used for the power conditioning.
