I would love to try one out Joe.

Great read. My pants are going crazy.
Far as the demo thing goes, easy.
How it works is, in theory, you send it to one person...the demo it, post what they think of it in a specified thread. When they are done, they send it to who is next on the list (as determined in that one thread)...and so on.

Thanks Troy.
That sounds good to me I'll get the ball rolling soon.

What do you mean "a swap" Ant? -

You should be ashamed of yourself that you don't own one now. . .:D -
Just like Troy said. People sign up to a list. One gets sent out to the first person on that list. They get to demo it for a period of time, say 2 or 3 weeks, and write their thoughts. Then they send it on to the next person. They have to pay for the shipping.
The moderator of the swap tracks who's who on the list and keeps track. He/She sends the shipping info of the next person in line. This is done via email or PM.
It's pretty simple... -

Ant PM me your phone number again, I deleted it by accident. -
I know this isn't the For Sale category but because of the interest shown in this thread for actual purchases, I'm going to accomodate those who have shown interest and keep the sales going in this thread. I'll post a link to this thread in the FS category.
It looks to me that many of you folks want to purchase "The Clamp" without a demo. I can accommodate you but again, I'm not sure how many I have so what I'll do is go down this thread and do a first come first serve system for orders.
I've researched what comparable clamps on the market are selling for now and I've have found that they are really expensive, the cheapest being $150 for a clamp that "may" work.

The price of The Clamp is $130 plus $5 for shipping for to lower 48 states. For Canada orders, I will have to check with the USPS to get a shipping cost. I will PM you with my addy. I can accept checks or money orders only. After receiving it, I will ship it out immediately. The Clamp will be packaged with detailed instructions. One thing I must inform you about is that The Clamp is rather tall, therefore you may not be able to close your dust cover when playing records or if you just have it mounted idle.
I guarantee it will work as described. If for any reason you are not satisfied, I will refund your money, no questions asked, just ship it back in the condition received with the shims and the manual.
Also if you have any questions about the operation or just want to BS about it, I will send you my email address and phone number so we can talk things over. As a matter of fact I would love to talk about it!!! LOL Come to think of it maybe we should just keep our conversation on this thread so that others may benefit from the info discussed.
PS: I’m still planning on doing the swap/demo thread.
Thanks,
Joe:)
Merry Christmas everyone!:)
PPS: I also guarantee that it will work better than anything out there at a comparable or even higher price. -
PM me your address, and I'll get a check headed your way. Thanks!

BlueMDPicker wrote:Cool! I'd be interested in buying one if they're available. My Sota clamp works well, but does little to improve warped LPs. The only other solution I've seen is a weighted ring--but, the thickness of the platter on my Blue Note makes most of them problematic with the belt driven platter (ring too thick to achieve sufficient mass.)
You are the first, PM sent. -

Yeah, I heard that at fourteen but I was the one saying it!!! -
Woohooo, I really feel it is Christmas now PM returned!!

If we start a clamp swap, I'd like to be on the list. I don't know if the turntable I have is any good or not, but I enjoy listening to the records that I have. Some of my new 180g records seem like they're too thick and hit the arm sometimes...wonder if this would help? My Dad bought this TT back in the 80's. Three years ago, I bought a new diamond stylus (Audio Technica AT122EP), and I think it sounds pretty good. Anyone have any thoughts?"I got into the music business thinking it was really radical, that it wasn't really a business at all, that it was a lot of people being artistic and creative. Not true, and it made me very depressed."

Does the linear tracking housing come nearly to the center of the platter? If so, Joe's clamp is probably too wide and tall to clear. The spindle also looks a bit short in the pick. Will your clamp "grab" on that small amount, Joe? -

What is the clearance from the record to the underside of the housing? -

If there is any spindle at all showing above the record (with the shim in place) the collet will grab it. My concern is does the TT automatically ride under the housing when in play mode? and if yes, what is the clearance.
Wow this is the first time I came across a turntable that the clamp may not fit on. I went through dozens and dozens and dozens of turntables during the testing phase and I never came across this one. Oh well there is only one perfect Being. -

Yeah, the arm comes nearly to the center. I'll have to find my tape measure to get the clearance. There is a thick rubber mat that the record lays on, which raises it substantially. That is one of my 180g records in the photo, which is pretty thick."I got into the music business thinking it was really radical, that it wasn't really a business at all, that it was a lot of people being artistic and creative. Joe,
The Rega's have very short spindle's, I see you tried it on everything you could find without problem, so I assume it will work for me.

RT, if the spindle protrudes above the record even a little bit with a shim under it the clamp will grab it with a tenaciously tight grip. Look at Antny's picture of the bottom of the clamp. The brass collet has three prongs (for lack of a better word) and a tapered bushing around the collet. When you place the spindle to the collet hole, and then proceed to twist the cap while holding the base, the collet it pulled up and the tapered bushing closes the collet immediately. Thus the tenacious grip.
If I am not mistaken, I had to make some special collets for sonegraphe turntables because their spindles were so short. That being said I am going to need some time to check my inventory.
Either way . . . if you purchase a clamp and it doesn't grab the spindle, I'll refund your money.

Joe:
I have a Sony table almost like Wodom1's pictured. There will not enough clearance for the Clamp when the platter slides back in the housing. -

Billy I gotta see this table. . . I am intrigued. -
P.S. - I can bring the Sony turntable over your place to test it if you like.
-
Basically the Clamp may not work on that Sony table. The Clamp, or any high quality record clamp, porbably cost more than the whole friggin Sony table anyway...So is it worth it? I don't want anyone to take this in the wrong way (Wodom1 or Joe) but it just might not clear the top when the platter slides back in the unit. You may be able to operate table with drawer in the out position. Lets test it out.

You are right it probably won't, but I'm still intrigued with this table. . . bring it over when you get back for CES. . . you lucky bastage!!! -
Oh yea - The CES...Can't wait. I MAY NEVER COME HOME!!
We will test the Sony table out when I get home. Maybe Santa will bring me the MMF9! Need you help setting everything up.
Merry Christmas.
