I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

Look on Audiogon for MAS IC's. I have some of their silver reference balanced interconnects and they're excellent. Around $70 a pair as I recall.

All of the previously mentioned cables are good options.

I recommend buying pairs of used XLR's from several different manufacturers to hear what sounds best in your system. System synergy can play a large part in how a cable performs.

Whichever cables do not work for you can be resold on the used market and you will get most, if not all, of your money back.

DH, there's no good reason to pay $$$ for simple cables which are readily available for $, for example here or here .

Sure there is Johnny boy, some folks want their systems to sound better than your Axiom/Sony mega changer set up wired with patch cords and lamp cord.

He asked for opinions on which balanced cables to get....not if he should get balanced cables.

Well I spent toooo much on my system already so I thought I shouldnt buy cheap interconnects. You dont buy a 30.000 suv or truck & put recap tires on it, I dont think you can get recaps anymore!

HERE, HERE. If you can't hear the difference too bad. Some of us can and it is great. I agree, my investment commands something better than your average cables from RS or "K-MART."

    Senor Juan K....

I don't even use cables and my system has never sounded better...

It's like the speakers can just look into the amp's eyes. Nothing has to be said....

I never heard the difference in interconnects, but I guess like I said why use cheap stuff on your $$ eq. Its only as good as the weakest link! I can hear the difference in good spk cable thought!

try A/B ing some "M" or equiv. type I/C from BB
and a pair of AQ Diamondbacks...
It`s a fair comparison, as the AQ`s are relativly low cost and will show a major difference...IMO

When I went from AQ King Cobra`s to MIT S1 shotguns, I was floored...
The difference (for me) was amazing...

There are plenty of microphone balanced cables availabe which will carry a signal, I have bought them for as little as 8.00 for a twenty foot cable. They do carry a signal and are considered "pro" cables, readily available at any musician supply stores. When dealing with live sound and pro gear a large amount of hiss, fan noise and so on is acceptable. That is the only place I use these low cost wires, for live sound.

I would not recommend using microphone cables for fine home audio equipment, its not the intended use.

Congrats on your decision to give some quality XLR connects a try, I find them to be absoultely dead quiet with my gear, running tube pre to ss amp you can put your ear to the speaker and hear, well nothing at all, silence like this is golden leaving you with just the recorded material and a silent background with no noise.

I am new to the audio scene.

Have been doing as much research as possible.

I am looking to get outlaw mono amps, they have 2 different models...

    the M200 and M2200.

What are the differences.. i know that the 2200 has balanced inputs as a difference, how would this make significant difference?

But to benefit from that you need a receiver with balanced outputs as pre-outs correct? THe only one i've seen(not that i have alot of experience in this stuff) is Outlaws own pre-amp/processor the 990.

Any one have a link to some kind of web refrence where i can read up on this stuff.

    Thanks for your help.
