My XM44 doesn't have boost. It has bass attenuation and panel EQ. I have them in a 20'x32' room with 7'-6" acoustic drop-in ceiling. Does the boost allow you to get by with fairly low powered amplification?

I think it's more semantics. Boost and equalization. As I understood it when talking to Roger Sanders, the equalization boosts the signal between 500 - 2000Hz by 5-9dB. The XM44 I got, Phil added the high frequency attenuator also. That extra control made an impact on overly bright music.

Mine are in a room that is 17' x 14' with an 8' drop tile ceiling. I haven't tried the TAD-60 on the bass yet but it's been running the panels without a problem. Tried it on both the 4 ohm & 8 ohm taps - 4 ohm taps sound better - the 8 ohm taps were a little more laid back. I might give it a shot today with the TAD-60 powering the bottom end.

It's a great feature and one I like on my Revel LE-1/Sub-15. There's an "auto room EQ" circuit in the amp that I have never even tried. I dialed it all in by ear, listening to music.

The TAD-6O beat out the Innersound bass amp. Looks like I'm stuck running an all tube power plant (good for the winter time). The Innersound is just a remote controled x-over at this point. Maybe I'll find a SS Innersound amp to pair with the crossover bass amp someday. Guess it all boils down to synergy with bi-amplification - tubes + tubes = :D and SS + SS = :D but, like oil and water, tubes + SS just don't mix :(. Guess everybody is different and this is my $.02 on the subject. Sorry for the de-rail Mike :o

Looking over the emails between Roger Sanders, Phil Marchand and Mr. Rounds, the Isis got a 9dB boost in the 500Hz - 2KHz range and the Eros with the larger panel just required a 5dB boost in the same range. The extra control adds tunability.

Power wise, 22VRMS goes a long way. Roger was concerned and suggested I scope it out.

Jesse has his ear on the Isis as I type (I do believe he likes them!) We're A/Bing the modded Jolida against the EE Minimax. I've already thrown in the towel. The modded Jolida has noticably more energy.

LOL well there was a pair for sale that was priced ridiculously low and I don't think they ever sold.

    Here's the link: http://www.audiocircle.com/circles/index.php?topic=32491.0

I'd have grabbed them but I already have an extra pair of ERos that I really should unload.

I'd love to hear that modded Jolida as well as your Wadia! I bet they both sound superb!

Man, did we have fun this evening. I got my ears on the Wadia with the full Revel Gem set up (last time was sans sub)......a very sweet set up that any audiophool would be proud to own. Hell, I even liked the sound from the TT. :)

We took a break for dinner out and when we came back it was A/B time and ears on the Innersounds. Yes Mike, I like them! Of note to me were the extremely clear/natural vocals and a nice wide soundstage that reminded me a bit of the SDA's. While the 2 rigs sound different, both are top notch.

The A/Bing was a little tricky at first as the Jolida is at least 2dB louder, but we soon got the needed adjustments dialed in. I have to agree with Mike, the Jolida did have more presence, but the Minimax sounded pretty good too. It would have been fun to A/B with the Wadia, but it was getting late. Maybe next time.

BTW, I checked and the output voltage is 2V.

The Minimax is 2 Volts +/-3dB. I should have rolled a few 6922/7308 in it to see if that made a difference while we were testing.

The sonic differences, now that I reflect on them, are similar to a guitarist with touch and tone versus one with flawless technique. The Jolida has touch and tone. The sound has more energy. I first noticed it in the mid-bass region, but it's across the board. Cool stuff!
