Hi friends!
Last week finally I´d received the R15´s. I was very curious about get for outpost. At the begining I was surprised for the size, this things are really small and very well finished. So disconnect my rm6801´s and hook it up the 15´s. Put them on the stands, turn down the xover to 90 and I start to listen to 15´s. First, I didn´t note very difference and let them play for a while, then I started to find differences. The image start to seems more acurated and cristal, was like they have more air to work and breathe. The blend with the sub was better too, the sub starts to disappear and was hard to guess where the sub was phisically, so the soundstage becomes more depth and full the room with less effort. I found the highs beautiful, the winds sound totally clear and live. The mids are reasonable and the bass is more that I´ve expected, very tight. So, is hard to say but I prefer them to the sound of rm´s.
Great surprise and for the price they are really great!!

PS: Would like to listen RTi´s 4 or 6, I think that they are my next speakers.

Thanks Polk for let me to enjoy my system like never before!!!

They are excellent speakers for the price. After they break in they will smooth out just a touch. I'm using 4 of them in my HT and I'm very happy. Glad you like them :) The matching center channel is the CSi20 or the CSi25.
    Audio: Polk S15 * Polk S35 * Polk S10 * SVS SB-1000 Pro
    HT: Samsung QN90B * Marantz NR1510 * Panasonic DMP-BDT220 * Roku Ultra LT * APC H10

I am using a pair of R15 for HT rear surround and am quite pleased also. They are a decent match to my RT600 fronts (until I can afford to upgrade all) and they hide away nicely in bookshelves. Enjoy your new purchase!

The Polk R15s are a great value and work great for HT or as a small 2ch system.

Like cambir I'm using them as rear surrounds in my HT system with my RT800s and really enjoying them. Once I pumped a little more bass signal into them (set them to "small" but still feeding 60Hz and up), they really opened up a new fuller dimension to the surround experience. Great little speakers! I'm sure I'll have these in my possession for a long time in some capacity or another.

Got 4 of them for my daughter and SIL's HT, they do work great for back and side surrounds.

Nice sound from a small package. A terrific overall value, especially when you can catch them at Fry's on clearance.

I own a pair that I'm using for surrounds...but just bought 2 pair for my kids who both have R setups across the front. $40.00...can't say no.

I did look at the R150 and 300s. Even though the previous Rs wouldn't win any beauty contests, these new ones are fugly. The R150 is slightly taller and wider than the 15. The R300 looks shorter, but an inch or so wider than the R30. Perhaps they'll sound better, I didn't hear them at Frys and they weren't on sale (today).

    Combo rig:

Onkyo NR1007 pre-pro, Carver TFM 45(fronts), Carver TFM 35 (surrounds)
    SDA 1C, CS400i, SDA 2B
    PB13Ultra RO
    BW Silvers
    Oppo BDP-83SE

The R150 doesn't have a keyhole slot for wall mounting (for use as a surround). Who screwed that one up

I got a set last boxing day and still haven't taken them out of the box. I wanted to use them as rear surrounds, but with my recent purchase of RTi10s, they might not be up to par.

It really depends on how much critical listening you do for HT. I paired mine with 8s awhile and thought they were fine, as I do now with SDAs in front. Eventually, I'll replace them with something maybe vintage, maybe LSi7s after I replace the tweeters on the 1Cs. Since you've got um, try um...

Monitor 30's are rear ported with a slot for wall mounting link. The LSi7's are wall mountable & feature "Precise deep bass response provided by a rear-firing PowerPort® venting system built into the speaker's back plate". :p

 R30's are small towers with a front port. I have four of them on 29" stands that I use for surrounds.

If I'm not mistaken, the LSi7's have a large plate mounted on the back of them, which serves two purposes. One, it directs the air from the port out and to the sides, and two, it gives a mounting point. The r150's are $150 (and some times $50) speakers... you can't expect them to have the same features as the LSi line.

BTW- I'm loving my R15's in an office environment. They're nice for during the day, and after everyone leaves I can really crank 'em up :)

The link he gave is for the Monitor 30's, which are rear-ported and wall-mountable.

I meant to say the Monitor 30 not the R30, my bad.

Maybe not the same as the LSi but the Monitor 30 (which is closer to the R150 than the LSi in the line up) has the bass port and mounting slot on the back. Since the technology to make it work is already there (in house) I don't see why they couldn't make the R150 wall mountable from the factory.

At any rate, I'm currently at work (an hour later than I should be), enjoying my R15's at fairly high volumes, because I'm now the only one left here in IT.

I had $100 each Bose Jewel speakers. Although they sounded OK they were no match for the $50.00 R15's. They really rocked. I have them in combination with Monitor 40's a CSi25 center a PWS-10 and with some R150's which costs the same and sound a little better than the R15's. I would definately upgrade to the R150's. Although the R15's are great the R150 sound a little sharper. They cost the same anyway.

Right now I'm running a JVC receiver, rated 100wpc. It was a spare piece of equipment that I could afford to put in my office :). The system gets played throughout the day (one of the advantages of not working in a cube farm), but at significantly lower levels. But if I have to stay late, the volume goes up a few clicks :)

Wish I had that luxury, I work for a hybrid internet radio/video station at aol where, with the exception of the studio, I'm forced to listen to music through $5 computer speakers to do all my major edits. Thought I might get lucky and use the headphone jack attached to it with my Sennheiser's, but good God. The background noise was around 3 db less than the music, some nasty modulating power noise with a heck of a lotta crosstalk.

Count your blessings this year ;)

Depending on how things work out with the RTi6 karma ( ;) ), I may end up getting a pair of the r150's to replace the r15's. I'd still keep both, but whichever one I like more would come home and serve as my computer speakers for when I don't want the big SDAs on...

So that's why AOL radio sounds so bad!!! :D:p
