You are correct, I just dug up my e-mail from Tom V at SVS and he was suggesting no less than 3.5 cu ft and the one I linked only has 2.0. Looks like even their largest is just 3.0.

Now Dave. The 3.0cuft sealed encloser, with a powerfull amp (400watts or better) and stuffed well, would sound delicious.

The 20-39 sonotube is approx 4.8 interior which I think is the sweetspot for this driver in a ported enclosure @ 500w.

    Combo rig:

Onkyo NR1007 pre-pro, Carver TFM 45(fronts), Carver TFM 35 (surrounds)
    SDA 1C, CS400i, SDA 2B
    PB13Ultra RO
    BW Silvers
    Oppo BDP-83SE

I was told 5.3cu.ft.tube with the 12.1 / 4"port 17" long with a 300 watt amp will get me down to 16hz while still sounding good for music also.

I have the structure done and the woofer (12.1 svs) mounted. I just need the time to make the sock, binding posts, & 4" port. I'll be posting pics when I'm done (when I learn how:o )

Keep up the good fight. I fought that same war for about a year and a half. (maybe the 7's you got are lucky - they were replaced by the 15's.)

Good luck and build around them. Upgrade to the 15's last if you have to. (that way you can use the bargaining chip of this is my last audio purchase... this year)

    Michael
    Mains.............Polk LSi15 (Cherry)
    Center............Polk LSiC (Crossover upgraded)
Surrounds.......Polk LSi7 (Gloss Black - wood sides removed and crossovers upgraded)
    Subwoofers.....SVS 25-31 CS+ and PC+ (both 20hz tune)
    Pre\Pro...........NAD T163 (Modded with LM4562 opamps)
    Amplifier.........Cinepro 3k6 (6-channel, 500wpc@4ohms)

I replaced my center and my sub is almost done. I'm just left needing mains and an amp. She is not happy with the size of the 15's in the living room. I was lucky at first....she hated the monitors as much as I did...but she loves the 7's and dose not see a reason to move them to the back for new fronts. She never has to find out about the amp so thats not an issue. If worst comes to worst I'll have to pull the old jewelry move for the win. A costly move but a win is a win. War is hell.

There was an article about the svs speaker system in the last issue of Sound and Vision. They got a very good review. I think it was the December issue but could be November. Hope it helps.
