Has anybody heard the new speaks from SVS ?

I wonder if they are as good as the subs ?

I thought about putting a small set together for the bedroom HT, or for the kids for Christmas..

any thoughts ?

I've heard them at CES last year, I plan to revisit this year. Good value, but with the recent release of the Onix X series, they simply can't stand up to the performance and build Mark and Danny are offering at that pricepoint.

Nice speakers, Russ. 3 pairs of them and a SVS PB10. That would make a nice setup.

I've heard them. They are a very good speaker for the price. Certainly no regrets buying them at the price they are offered up at. SVS' bread and butter is still their subs though.

    I love my Pc-Ultra !

Just curious about the little speaks ....

I was also looking into getting an upgraded woof for the pb-10, but they only have an upgraded 12

The pb-10 is great for a smaller room on HT, but kinda lacking for music

of course having the ultra lurking does kinda make all others kinda weak..!!

Beardog - I just got the new SVS SB-12 to use in my 2 ch system for music. It's keeping up with my Magnepan's and sounds pretty good! A lot different sound than the other SVS's, I also have the PB10 and the 20-39 PC+.

Beardog there was a guy on the home theater forum selling a set without the subwoofer. The price was reasonable. I have no affiliation i am just pointing out the add. check them out in the hardware for sale section. probably could get them for less than he was asking. HE seemed motivated to move them. Good luck

I'd email SVS about it. I know that they're using TC Sound drivers (by far the best sounding subwoofer drivers I've ever heard) and can probably tell you whether or not TC's upgraded versions would sound decent inside one of their pre-existing enclosures.

    Worth a shot, right?

Not anymore. They ended the relationship sometime during mid - year. No hostility, just a business decision. All drivers are built in house now.

The 12.2 was a TC Sounds driver...as was the ISD driver. SVS took over with the 12.3 and NSD. The Ultra is still TC Sounds and will be until the last run sells out. The new Ultra proto may or may not show up at CES this year.

From what I understand the new Ultra will be "brown note" capable

I e-mailed tom at SVS and they told me what dim. to make my tube (building a sono sub) and what I could expect from it. I found him very helpful. I was shocked that he was willing to give me the info, but he did.

Yes he did the same for me. I wanted to put the parameters in WinISD to see what would happen...but anyways, I found "most" of the parameters at tc sounds, I hope they are close, but I dont have all of them to get an accurate reading with winISD.

Tom V at SVS also helped me with box dimensions, port length, etc. Very helpful and responded to my novice questions promptly. I can also compliment HSU customer service. Two first-rate companies.

And, of course, Polk CS is first-rate too.

I've got a 12.2 driver sitting in my office telling me to do something with it. Unfortunately, I've got no wood working skills. Thinking about a kit. The sono kits I've seen are ~ $400 + shipping. The PE boxes aren't big enough. Anybody else find an easy solution?

From what Tom told me. I built a box thats 3.8cuft with a 3"port 11"L. He says (which is pretty close to winISD) that with those specs I'm tuned to 21.4hz. In his oppinion this is ideal for the SVS driver. Right now my box has a Dayton in it, soon to be replaced with a 12.2 or 12.1. But beyond building one yourself, I dont know. I ran into the same problem as you Ron, the enclosers are just not big enough (for a port design) which I wanted.

IMO Dave. That box just doesnt have enough air space for the SVS, but it is an excellent box kit. IMO and HT sub (depending on what your driving it with) should be from 3cuft to 4.5cuft. If you notice all the top manufactures, SVS, HSU, etc.. They all use larger boxes. But of corse if you decide to go sealed (like the sunfire subs) you dont need alot of airspace but you would need a powerfull amp.
