This is very disturbing. I don't expect anything will actually every come of it, but the premise behind this is boarderline ridiculous. Greed is the only thing that comes to mind.

Dude, come on, that's a spoof site, but it is funny...
    If...
Ron dislikes a film = go out and buy it.
Ron loves a film = don't even rent.

    It is quite funny.

"Just because you buy a DVD doesn't give you the right to invite friends over to watch."

    LOL!

Ron, who do you think you are having all that nice gear and having friends over without charging? :D
    No excuses!

I found it from another site, and didn't check into it much. However, I wouldn't rule something like this out in the future.....

If Blue ray starts to tank than Sony might actually do this to their HD DVD discs.

I suspect discs with limited play will be tried, maybe play one time and your done, of course for some movies this might be a good thing. Fortunately, at this point I doubt the idea will fly. But if you could get the cost low enough say 1.50 at today's market it would be less than PPV and possibly worth someone's time to go buy them.

Remember Circuit City and DIVX? Buy the disc and pay to play. Worked real well....NOT!

    EFF that!

Now you have Walmart wanting to phase out DVD's and go the way of downloading movies. Apparently Walmart accounts for 40% of all DVD's sold.

Please, will they leave a good thing alone.

Yes, John I thought someone had tried some kind of thing like it a ways back, I think it was time consuming and not really a value cost wise when they tried it.

Make sure you include registering the theater in your car (dont hummers have 30" screens) cuz its got comfy seats, so comfy when I was younger I missed entire movies, but only when I was really lucky.

    This "law" aint happening.
