I ordered the above mentioned remote today from Compuplus(pricegrabber recommendation) for $143.00

Seems like a good deal, even on ebay they are going for 170.

http://www.compuplus.com/i-Logitech-Harmony-880-Advanced-Universal-Remote-966187-0403-1004927~t-880.html?sid=3ew50b8se7z1i21&track=searchViewed

Anyone else have this remote? You like it? Dislike it? Complaints? Compliments?

Comes with a 30 day money back warranty so I figured why not, I have 8 remote in front of my tv right now and I'm dying to put them away. I checked compatibility with the Logitech site and it will work for all of my devices, including my IPOD dock and my velodyne subwoofer.

I look foward to it arriving.

I like it, but the buttons on the 659 are easier to use. Plus for the 880 is the recharging station.

I like it. My wife likes it.

I bought it for @ $70 at amazon.

I've owned one for a month or so now. Absolutely LOVE it! The ability to turn everything on and to the proper input in the press of a button is great. Not to mention every individual button does what you want it to, despite them all operating different units.
This may be the only purchase my wife has supported. And I got it locally for $100 used... worth every penny. It even can turn on and off my XBox 360! :)

wow all these good reviews from members makes me wish I overnight shipped it.

A major selling point for me was the fact I can control my Accurian IPOD dock and my Velodyne DLSR(both which have these little remotes that dont work well)

880 and 890 are the same thing right?

Except for the fact 890 can use that IR receiver for components not in view?

I bought the 880 about a year ago and returned it after a couple days. Great remote, but had to point it just right at my equipment to work correctly (no, not that equipment...my HT equipment...you sick ****).

I have the 890 now (yeah, same thing as the 880 with IR capability) and love the thing. It takes a few days to tweak, but well worth it.

I stayed with the Sony programable remote. I liked my RM-AV1000 so much I upgraded to a RM-AV2500 (Amazon = $87.50). I like the fact that I can program it without going online to do it. The only drawback, as with almost everyone that has one, is that the labels for the buttons are limited. Just my two cents worth...

How dose it compare to the pronto remotes. I'm not real thrilled with my TSU 3000. To big and the touch screen gets on my nerves.

I have the 880 as well and absolutely love it. The best feature is the fact that it "remembers" that on/off state of your components. For instance if you switch from "Watch TV" to "Watch DVD", it will turn off your DVR box and turn on your DVD leaving the TV on as is.

Being able to set it up via the web was a plus for me since I had just purchased the new Panasonic Plasma that was sent to me fresh from the manufactorer. Having the 880 codes on the website allowed for the remote codes to be loaded directly by another user and instantly utilized by me. No waiting for Harmony to develop a CD to ship to me or researching websites to determine entry codes that would trick your remote into similating the Plasma remote. Plus once you set it up, you typically will not be tweaking it unless you add a new component. For me that means I tweak it once or twice a year.

The only drawback with the remote is that it does not allow MACRO operations. In other words you cannot "easily" enter a single command that will 1) Go to Track 3 of your DVD, 2) Turn up your receiver to reference level, and 3) dim the lights.

Personally for me, the fact that the remote remembers the states of your components and thus only leaves on what is absolutely necessary for a given activity outweighs the negative of not being capable of MACROs.

so how do you like the Harmony?

I just got Dish HD-DVR installed and I'm too lazy to try to get it to work with my old universal remote. The price is still a sore point, and I'm not sure I'll like the buttons. They look "slippery" and I imagine I won't be able to use it without looking at it. But the web-enabled programming looks like a dream.

Anybody have the 670? To me the buttons look better on that model. Not as flashy.

I've had a 880 for a few months now and still love the thing. My wife has really enjoyed having it too-she didn't like dealing with 5 remotes all the time...lol. It took me a few days to get everything programmed just like I wanted, but now it controls everything including my Dish Network DVR 721. I bought mine from Dell.com for about $120ish.

After having non-DVR cable for years and years, switching to Dish HD-DVR has been a blessing and a curse. I don't know what channel is what anymore. The DVR is really cool, but just surfing the channels seems to be much more of a chore now. My wife was so used to the cable setup she's reluctant to learn how to use the new sat receiver. Having to get local HD channels though an antenna really sucks too.

I'm thinking getting a Harmony might help smooth some things out. 880 for 120 is a great price.

I've had the 659, 688. 880, 890, and now the 1000. Each one has its own little quirks, but overall, for most people, these remotes are a great way to smooth out some of the "kinks" in a family environment.

Overall, my favorite is probably the 880/890. The 1000 is okay, but there are better touchscreen models available that do a better job(URC MX3000 & RTI T3).
I've programmed somewhere between 30-50 Harmony remotes, and the main complaint I have is the lack of actual user adjustments. RTI and URC make these adjustments easier, but the software is usually only available through custom installation channels, so the total cost tends to go up as you pay a programmer to get it done. Not a bad investment if you don't have the time, or have a very complex system, but many people here on this forum can get by with a Harmony.

Myself, I have the URC, Aurora remote and love it and my wife has the 659 upstairs. I have two complaints about both remotes, the 659 seems really slow to volume commands on the Denon 3805, if I hold the up or down on the volume key it seems like the 659 gets confused, if you start tapping the up or down on the volume key sometimes the receiver goes crazy, volume goes threw the roof. On the URC, I just purchased the Sony BDP-S1 Blu-Ray player and when I set up the new player on the remote, the BDP-S1 doesn't even exist in URC's database, I do the live update and it states the software is up to date. I guess there is NO perfect remote.

After I choose an activity, say "Watch TV", can I setup the remote so that the LCD screen shows various channel logos and changes to those channels when selected? How many are available? Just 8? Or can you scroll multiple pages of screens?

I guess I basically would like to know how customizable the remote is as far as programming the LCD/macros/sub-menus, etc.

You can set it up do use channel logos to change channels by. Take a look at my gallery for a pic of the remote-links in my sig.
