Rather than trusting anyone else (we all have opinions but offer little proof), try something yourself. Buy one expensive and one cheap cable. Sit in front of your speakers, with your eyes closed and have someone else swap the cables back and forth. If you can reliably tell one from the other (you won't be able to do so) buy that one.

FWIW, buy the "premium" cables from monoprice.com. They're still extraordinarily less expensive than in the stores, and better quality, too.

He's right. You'll get alot of POV. The best thing is to try it out for your self and see what you think.

on digital cables, i'm not concerned on boutique cables. Analog cables I am concerned with cable quality.

I second that! I was going to locally buy a 6' optical audio cable (because I couldn't find a longer one). Around here the stores are charging about $25.00+ for the Monster Cable brand. My son told me to order it from monoprice.com because that's where he orders cables from. He said that they have a good online reputation for quality and prompt shipping.

My amp has two ports for optical input so I bought two 12' cables (with shipping/ground) which cost me a little over $12.00. I got them in five days. They both work perfectly.
Be gentle, I'm new to all this...
