What brand makes a good paint for walls?

Also, what is the best type..

I dont want shiney walls, but I want something that can be cleaned...

Would like to keep it anywhere between 15-20 a gallon...

You do really get what you pay for with paint. Pay less= more coats. Go with a satin finish as it cleans well, but doesn't reflect too much shine. Paints use flat/satin/semi-gloss/gloss ranges of sheen. You can get good results from Behr paints from Home Depot in your price range. Sherwin Williams is really a top choice for quality paints, but you will pay for the quality. >$30 gallon

Hint: If you want to go dark over a white wall, primer with a darker grey first to save on your topcoats.

You should be okay going dark over dark, unless your current paint is gloss, with too much slickness. Then I would prime to insure the new paint takes.

Current paint is flat enterprise paint from Lowes...

Its kind of a medium grey color...

Im thinking about doing two walls black (directly behind TV and seating wall) and the side walls a color my step Mom used in my room at my Dad's house which I havnt seen in forever, I need to ask them what its called... lol

I want the black walls to make things dissapear a lil better when watching movies...

American Tradition from Lowe's seems to be solid. I've used it several times.

Baer from HD is rock solid as well. Painted many many houses with it. Go with an Eggshell sheen when painting interior walls. A satin will reflect too much, IMO.

    Good luck with the project!

We used Devine Color (got it at a local Benjamin Moore store) and we love it. We used a tinted primer before painting the room to save $.

I've used literally hundreds of gallons of Benjamin Moore's eggshell finish paint with great results.
It holds up better than flat paint to cleaning but doesn't "shine" like semi gloss paint. It's great for kitchens, kids rooms and high traffic areas. Although hardy enough for bathroom use, a semi gloss is still the best for that application.

A painters vote for California brand paints if they are in your area. Big on the East coast and is the only brand we currently use. Their "Super Scrub" ceramic paint is excellent. Totally washable and holds up well against "burnishing", a problem that occurs with dark colors.
FYI- American Tradition from Lowes is a solid economical choice.
