Anybody here using this tube? I thought the US made Ampex 7308 were the bomb, but the Holland made Bugles are effin crazy. The imaging is purely insane and my sweet spot got quite a bit larger. The vocals is the most seductive I've heard from all the 6DJ8/6922/7308 tubes I've tried.

What's a better sounding tube than BB? I actually have 2 different versions of this tube. Not sure which one is older. Gonna have to check the codes.
I have a Siemens CCa coming from Germany. Should be interesting.

Thats what I used when I had my Dodd. I rolled in about 4 other pairs of various tubes, and none could best the Bugles. I liked them very much. I have a couple pair just sitting here in case I ever have a pre again that uses them. I like them that much.

to me, its THE tube to run in the ELP. I've tried, EI elites, Jan blue label and green label and Sovtek, but the bugle boys win hands down. they dont seem to shine as well in my Anthem pre, but still very nice.

Organ, let us know how the CCAs work out.

I have run the Bugle Boys and have the E188cc in now but haven't had time to do a serious comparison.

My favorite, by far. I have yet to have another tube that does everything as right as the BB 6DJ8. And I've tried a shitload.

I preferred my NOS Mullard 6DJ8's when I compared them to the Amperex BB's in my "old" CDP's. I still have the set of BB's - maybe I'll give them another try.

Wow, I had no idea how well the BB go together with the ELP.
So far, I've been listening to the system at low level. Gonna blast it tomorrow and see how it does dynamics when turned up.

You guys should check the construction of your BB's. The earlier ones used grey shields (the vertical piece that sticks out of the top mica located right between the two triode sections) that some say sounds better. I have both but haven't tried the earlier vintage yet.

Another thing to add is that BB's are no different from other white label Ampex's. They received the name from the cartoon tube character printed on the glass.

    Read-alot,
I'll let you guys know how the CCa works out. Is the CCa a premium 6DJ8 or 6922? I can't remember. The only vintage 6922 I've tried is the green label JAN. Gonna have to start hunting for some Mullard.

I have been using a pair of BB 12au7s in my Tad-150 and they are the best so far in my setup. Better bass and the top is more extended. But maybe too much! Got speakers to move ect ect. Whenever I think I got the bug bad I can remember the guy listening to his ratsnest headphone setup with no Ears and laugh. The one pic of the transformer all bundled up looks like his baby all swaudled? up. Too f funny.

    Halo,
Very cool. Thanks. That's a VERY informative website.
I was thinking ebay. Sometimes you get killer deals on BIN or sniping at the last second especially on used but test new tubes. The only thing with ebay is that you have to know what you're buying. Knowing contruction, glass shape, etc really helps. I've spotted some fakes. There seems to be quite a few fake Teles.
I'll keep VTS in mind. He has some very cool rare stuff at great prices.

    Bikerboy,
Thanks for the info. I'll look for some BB U7's. I use a pair of 12AU7 in my cd player. So far the best I've tried is the Siemens 5814A triple mica. My second fav is the Tung Sol 12AU7 (D getter).

Any other interesting 12AU7 you've come across?
Don't worry, we'll never end up like the headphone freak.

Well, I received my CCa tube today. But I'll wait at least a week or two before serious listening. Wanna get used to the BB's and I just installed a pair of Tung Sol 6SL7 in my amps.
