hey all, i was gonna get three alpine type-r's but my arch nemesis is now thinking of getting those. So i need to go bigger and better. I'm thinking about three type-x's which would be awesome:D but i need an amp big enough to power those. I was looking at some of the soundstream amps. what kind of amp would be perfect for these subs? thanks

    if youre going to have 3000w going to your subs in the back, no matter what size speakers they are, youre not going to hear them

    i know but i was just wondering, no place has that spec and i dont really want to take the panel off and check. but i can do it, it would be no problem, im just a lil lazy haha.

    would it be ok if i were to wire three subs like this: first i would wire two subs to one amp and then the last to another, then i could have one on at a time or two on at a time or all three. would that be fine or would it change the sound?

    their website says 2 ohm, no 1 ohm ratings. Makes me think no.

    Are you looking to prioritize the SPL aspect? cus if so - you'll probably be better off with the type-R rather than the type-X. The newer type-Rs get louder and handle power better.

    (check other audio forums and do some searches to verify)

    i agree with MacLeod. I mean, he did just come in second place. thats pretty amazing. so i think I'm gonna go with one W7 for now and power it with a Pioneer Premier PRS-D5000SPL. Does that sound or do you think that thats too much power. I think that i would probably upgrade to two in the future so i think i could just turn the gain all the way down for now???

    if you want to screw yourself out of a lot of money for a sub thats not worth it, go for it. It wont be too much power for that sub as long as its in the proper box and the gain set correctly

    Pioneer's not exactly what you call a CLEAN sounding amp.

    get a wall with a clarion 32". He can't one up that.
