I just wanted to post and say that meeting Unbridled (Joe) was an awesome experience. The two of us just diddled and daddled... talked a lot about audio and the likes.... and listened comparatively to 3 good loudspeakers.

We listened to:
1. Polk LSi9 (Joe's... thanks for bringing them! Brings back memories of the sound everytime!)
2. AV123's Strata Mini
3. Martin Logan Summit

Via the Rogue Metis preamp and the Plinius SA102 amp, streaming FLAC from the Squeezebox3.

I wish I could do this more with other local audiophiles.... as meeting and conversing with audiophiles is an awesome experience! A learning experience for sure!

In my best impersonation of Kyle's mom..."what, what, WHAT!!!"

We need someone to host a Chicago meet Joey.

Rich has the best acoustics and, for me, accessibility - anyone unaware I am in a wheelchair? Well, now ya know! ;) Rich, unfortunately, isn't able to host for a variety of reasons. I'd prefer it to be "close" to Chicago, say within 45 - 60 min.

I'd love to have a get together but (you already know this) my house 'aint gonna work.

It isn't all about me though :o

Anyone want to host a Chicago POLKFEST now's the time to step up to the plate. Shall we say summer '07?

I would love to come out to Chicago, visit the city, and meet up with some of the forum members.

Dudes and dudettes - post this stuff ahead of time, with airfare specials, a weekend in/out isn't out of the question....

    Cheers,

Joey and Unbridled, can you guys chime in on what you thought about the av123 Minis compared to your LSi9s? I am ver curious. Joey, you did an excellent job on your review comparing to your MLs but I am not as familiar with ML sound...nor are they in my budget.... How do you think the Minis compare to your 9s or 15s?

    Hi Russ,

Since you've done this kind of thing a lot I respect you opinion and welcome your input.

Looking to Summer '07 is ahead of time, no?

Airfare specials - sure we could look into that but the biggest problem has yet to be solved...

We need a host. I would imagine an exact time frame would fall into place around the host's schedule.

Sure, a weekend would be perfect. I like July :)

    2+2,

I think having Unbridled comment on the 9s vs the Minis is a better gauge of how the two truly stack up as he is a current owner of the 9s and he has a better hold on the 9s sonic signature than I do at the moment, considering I'm not a current 9 owner.

    I will tell you this:
Joe said that the difference between the 9s and the Minis was less (albeit the differences were very apparent) than the difference between the Minis and the Martin Logan Summits.

If Joe (unbridled) doesnt respond to your question by tonight... I'll post a short response as to what I thought about the 9s vs Minis... but I would rather have Joe (unbridled) give his 2 cents without any bias that he might get if he read mine before posting his.

Sounds good Joey....I saw the pictures of the piano black Minis and it got me wondering exactly how good they are in comparison to LSis...especially the likes of LSi 15 and 25s...

Here is a snip of a PM that Joe sent to me tonight.

Man I will say this (again), your logans simply rock! That one song with the sax you played, man it sounded like the dude was blasting away right in front of me. I also liked the vocals on that one song by extreme, the center image was right on, the speakers really did disappear. I felt (and I believe you agreed) that the difference between the 9's and the minis was (much) less than the difference between the mini's and the logans...

I have urged him to post a more detailed comparison with the LSi9, the Strata Minis... referenced to the ML Summits when he can... so you guys should anticipate his post and what he has to say.

Joe's a solid guy and a solid audiophile. He is no nonsense and he will post the truth. A great guy with solid ears... he claims they're "tin"... but they're as good as mine or better.
