For Sale my much loved RTA-11T. I am the original owner and they have been in a smoke free pet free child free environment. They are museum perfect in every respect, not a ding, blemish, nick or scratch. Grills are prefect no tears, scuffs or wear marks. Color is black ash. Serial #’s 04750 & 04751. I have the original boxes and some packing. The boxes have been in the attic for the past 20 years and are in appropriate shape (probably old and brittle). Not sure if I can ship them in the original cartons or not yet.

I would strongly prefer local pick up and would be willing to deliver/meet up within a 60-75 mile radius for a nominal fuel fee. I will entertain shipping them, but I’d want to do it right.

Specs for those not familiar with the RTA-11T

The RTA-11T is the finest conventional (non-SDA) speaker that Polk Audio manufactured in the early 90’s. It’s extremely high power handling (250 watts) and high efficiency (90db) provides remarkable dynamic range from both large and small amplifiers. They utilize the same technologically advanced fluid-coupled subwoofer design found in Polk’s flagship models of that period. Dual 8” sub bass radiators are coupled to two 6 ½” mid/bass drivers, resulting in fast, powerful, deep and ultra accurate bass response, without the boomy, undetailed sound of a large woofer system.

Driver compliments

One 1” Polk SL2000 silver coil dome tweeter
Two 6 ½” Polk Tri-laminate Polymer bass-midrange drivers w/rubber surrounds
Two 8” fluid coupled subwoofers, one high resonance, one low resonance

Dimensions:
39H x 10 1/5 W x 12 ½ D
58lbs each
29 Hz to 20kHz within 3db
10-250 watts
Nominal Impedence 6 ohms

All parts are original. $old plus shipping if neccesary

Pics to come later today or tomorrow.

Thanks for looking

H9

I have had a set of the RTA-11TLs (ever so slightly different) for about 7 years. I have brought in all kinds of contenders (although no SDAs) and nothing has ever unseated these. Much more open that the 8Ts which were sent packin when these showed up. Nice plain looks that will never go out of style. Bottom line, these are just great.

Thanks for endorsement. I have to agree with you, except the Lsi 9's I just purchased do a few things better (the Vifa tweeter is superb). It's been tough to decide whether to upgrade x-overs and tweets in the RTA's and keep them or move on to the Lsi's. I decided since I've had the RTA's about 20 years, it's time to move on, but that doesn't diminish the enjoyment and pleasure they have given me. In the sweet spot they are excellent and the bass is very well defined and deep.

I agree they are quite a bit better sounding than the 8T's and I'm not trying to slight those that own the 8's, it's just a fact. Using two PR's instead of a port really makes a huge difference.

Pm ..............almost sent.:o Quick question first.

How would these do in a mostly HT rig with a little bit of 2 channel ( maybe 20%)? I kind of want to hear a set of "old Polks" and have a little bit of upgrade money to throw around but only have room for one set of speaks.

    Any thoughts?

It'll be awesome Kevin. Will match your current speakers pretty well. If you upgrade the tweets, it should match your LSiC pretty well... :)

Will sound similar to my SDA1b's (without the sda effect).

You could always set a Monitor 5 on it's side for a CC, no? Juat make sure you have matching tweeters.

Hey Victor, Yes for now they will do quite nicely. I have a feeling these will be stepping stones for moving up to the Lsi 15's. I will stick with these through the winter and spring and decide in the summer if I should move up. The 9's do everything so well except deep base. I really don't want to sell these short so I'll spend some time with them.

I can add my voice here--these are great speakers for the size, and especially the price. I have a pair of older Monitor 11Ts (same deal) in oak that'll reproduce most things beautifully.

Try adding a small sub for the deep bass or take a page from me and Darla - give Von Schweikert a try ;):)

We'll see! I don't like subs, but I could give a musical 1 a try perhaps. Since I have no bass management I'd rely on the subs BM not sure if that's good or not. I kept my last pair of speakers for almost 20 years, will Von Schweikert still be making great speakers in 20 years when I'm ready to move up :p

    SOLD to OPUS

Just spent a few minutes visiting with Opus (Kevin) while we packed up my RTA's and loaded them in his truck. He drove about an hour to cme and get them. Met his wife briefly and they are now back on their way home.

Smooth transaction and seems like a real nice guy. Enjoy them Kevin. Glad they are staying in the family and glad I didn't have to ship them.

Thanks Brock for a great pair of speaks. So far I like them alot.
However I twisted my back taking them in the house and was on the couch all day Sunday. Not the worse thing though with the ball game on.
